Softlock if you find Damaris' lost sword and collect it before getting the quest.
Title. If you find her sword before you get the quest, then the quest becomes uncompletable because you can't find the sword again, you already have it.

I'm one of those that found the sword (long) before going to that building. I was in no hurry to get to the building, just exploring the area. Now, my personal "failure" was that I had seen posts (probably this very topic) about breaking a quest if you got Damari's sword before you got the quest, but, unfortunately, it isn't called "Damari's sword", it's called Lion Blade, so I took a chance, because I really wanted to get rid of that stupid stick. :lunar2020playfuldog: So, the quest glitched for me, but I don't really care, since there's apparently nothing after that anyway (for now).

On the bright side, that's the only significant quest glitch I encountered in this version. But I also only did one playthrough, since there really just isn't much there yet.

Really it doesn't matter whether you find the sword before getting the quest. You can not actually tell Damari you found her sword and you can inform her the island is safe, it just won't clear the quest, my attitude is who cares, I can't remember how many times I have found quest items before finding the quest giver, in both single player and mmo's, sometimes you can simply tell them and sometimes not, sh!t happens and you just live with it. If it bugs you so much just open the quest log and abandon or delete the quest, poof job done.

Well, if this is (eventually) part of the main quests and you can't complete it, then you may not be able to continue the main quests. But right now it doesn't seem to matter.

Can you do that in this game? I never noticed any options like that, but I wasn't looking for them either.

not actually sure atm, but if not it will probably be an available option eventually, a fairly standard option on almost all games. Usually used when you become so frustrated because you can't discover how to complete it, and I expect we've all had a few like that lol

Just curious -- How does something like that work if it's a main quest, or part of some other quest chain, where completing one quest unlocks the next one? Do you just automatically get the next quest?

Fixing this is easy, if you have the sword when she mentions it, add a player response that you already found it into the quest script. There are plenty of games that do this. Alternatively make the sword unactionable before the quest is taken, another common thing in games. Or simply leave it as is. After all the comments and moans, everyone should known about it by now
The first action everyone should have taken is go to the campsite indicated on the map and SAVE, ( a new and unknown area) it is the only intelligent course and from the campsite you can see the top half of the tavern, the only large intact building. It practically shouts "come here". Any one just running around like a noob, not paying attention to what's around pretty much gets what they deserve. And since there are no actual rewards for completing quests in Carnal Instinct I don't see that there is any issue anyway.

Sounds like I need to start from the beginning again then lol. I also think this is the case with the Prodigal son mission. I looked at the note at the farmer's house before starting the mission and the withered campfire I'm supposed to find just, isn't there

iT isn;t necessary to find the cold canpsite to complete the prodigal son. Infact I have found Anhur and the field hand before speaking with the farmer. You simply tell him you already found the bodies and the quest completes. This is what should also happen with the Lion Blade, maybe that will see the end of all the moaning. For me completing the quest isn;t relevant, there is no rewasd, not even a thank you for making the island safer / The only quest that technically has a reward is defeating the spectre to interact with the obelisk behind her. No other quest has any reward, other than loot you can find completing it.

That may be true, but the people that aren't able to complete the quest don't know that, unless they hear it from someone else. So they may be frustrated, thinking that they're blocked from progressing further in the game, or at least getting some reward (when actually there is neither, at this point).

And this seems like something that would be part of the story progression, in which case you may (eventually) need to complete it to get the next quest, and then it would be a major problem. But I expect CI Team will fix it, hopefully in the next update, and then it won't be an issue anymore.

It sounds like you think that the sword is underwater. It's not. The Wiki has screenshots showing where the sword is located.

Thanks! Turns out I already had the sword. Its called Lion's Blade for some reason. And the quest isn't finished. Both the Unreal Engine 5 and "regular version" show promise though. Can't wait for more!

Yeah, that threw me off too. I had read about people finding the sword before they got the quest, but I took a chance that the quest item was called Damaris' Sword, and the Lion Blade was something different (because I was really tired of that stick that you start with :happymeat:).

And, yeah, if you find the sword first, you can't complete the quest, but apparently there is no reward for the quest, and no quests that follow that, so we're not missing anything.
