Troubleshooting Game Crashes
We’ve seen a spike of reports from some players regarding game crashes, so we prepared a guide to help you.

General Tips
Please try these steps if your game crashes:
  • Verify the integrity of the game files.
  • Run the game as an administrator.
  • Reinstall the game.
  • Update the Unreal Engine.
  • Disable built-in\integrated GPU.
  • Disable CPU or GPU Overclocking.
  • Update your drivers to the latest version.
  • Disable Windows Firewall or Antivirus Program.
  • Apply the latest Windows updates.
  • Try using AMD Clean Up Utility[www.amd.com].
  • Disable Image Sharpening[nvidia.custhelp.com] in NVIDIA Control Panel.
  • Disable Fullscreen Optimizations[devblogs.microsoft.com].
  • Try setting a higher priority for Evil Dead: The Game in Windows Task Manager.
  • Set High Performance in Power Options.
  • Before starting the game, disable all controllers (steering wheels, gamepads, headphones, and even a keyboard) and VR sets. In some cases, they can cause unexpected issues.
  • Try disabling Overlay Apps and Background Applications (including SteamVR and Steam Overlay).
  • Close all applications that use the microphone (Discord, Skype, and others) in the Task Manager before starting the game.
  • If you have multiple monitors connected, try leaving only one primary.
  • We recommend doing a full clean of GPU drivers and making a fresh install of the latest version. If a new version doesn’t fix it, maybe try one of the older ones. NVIDIA recommends Display Driver Uninstaller for clean removal, so you may want to start with it.

DirectX 11 Configuration
  • In Steam, click on the “Library” option (you’ll get a complete list of the games you play).
  • Right-click on Evil Dead: The Game.
  • At the bottom, there’ll be an option named “Properties”.
  • Click on the “Set Launch Options” button.
  • In the dialogue box, write -dx11 or -d3d11 and press the OK button.

Reinstalling the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime
  • Uninstall Visual C++ Redistributable, then download both versions[learn.microsoft.com] (x86 and x64) of this program and install them individually.
  • It is vital to download the necessary components for a 64-bit system (even if you have x64 Windows OS) and a 32-bit (x86) operating system because many programs use this particular file.
  • Ensure you have DirectX[www.microsoft.com] and .NET Framework[dotnet.microsoft.com] installed.

Easy Anti-Cheat Configuration
  • Try reinstalling the EAC manually[www.easy.ac].
  • Run the Easy Anti-Cheat application (including easyanticheat_EOS_setup.exe) as an Administrator by default.
Disable your antivirus and run the game:
  • Select Start and type "Windows Security" to search for the app.
  • Select the Windows Security app from the search results, go to Virus & Threat Protection, and under Virus & Threat Protection settings, select Manage Settings.
  • Switch Real-Time Protection to Off.
If none of the methods help, do the following:
  • Verify The Easy Anti-Cheat installation[www.easy.ac].
  • Manually open a command prompt from the game’s EAC directory and type: EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe install 471e8e6860b8419b8774726873527b1b

Steam Client Configuration
You can try changing Steam configurations to improve your in-game experience:
  • In Steam, click on the “Library” option (you’ll get a complete list of the games you play).
  • Right-click on Evil Dead: The Game.
  • At the bottom, there’ll be an option named “Properties”.
  • Click on the “Set Launch Options” button.
  • In the dialogue box, write -autoconfig and press the OK button.
If this issue is present, try to launch the game with the Safe Launch option:
  • Repeat the same procedure as mentioned above.
  • In the dialogue box, write -safe and press the OK button.
