Is the game still alive?
I’m a huge evil dead fan and I already have the game on the epic games store (got it in a a free week). Will this game be alive when it drops on steam?

It will be much more lively with the Steam Release.

Majority of the Player Base are console players, less than 20% PC Players. So there is huge potential with the Steam Release.

It has a closed high level player base. Playing as new or casual or returning is hell so there's no SBMM

Reader beware:

Again this is not an objective evidence and again all multiplayer games are dominated by PS players especially when “data” gathered during a month the game was free on!

Simple logic, don’t talk “facts” if you don’t own the game. Fact is it was given for free TWICE on both EGS and PSN and queue times are still atrocious!

We will see how the queues will fare 2-4 weeks after Steam release more so with how the upcoming patch seems to destroy the balance even further.

It is hard data that you don't want to believe but can't refute either because you got no data of your own.

Feelings can't replace facts.

And you got no data about console players dominating multiplayer games either, otherwise you would post it.

That the playerbase didn't grow that well is explainable simply by the fact that it was solely on EGS. EGS gets boycotted by the majority of atleast the PC player base.

You can gift the game away as often as you want when people don't have EGS installed they won't see it.

"Feelings can't replace facts" for sure (but damn you manage to even get this wrong!!!).

Honestly you should put more effort into very basic thinking skills. You don't even own the game, probably just trolling for attention. Just because you don't want it in EGS does not mean thousands did not install it (as we who play the game observed) and quit it after 2-4 weeks. Elementary school logic.

People who actually played the game, know better than you and know that Saber is doing awful job post-release.

Sane readers with gaming common sense 101 will make their own conclusions. My work here is done.

I don't need to own the game to see and interpret the data, it is there and it was gathered by someone who owns the game.

Yeah, the conclusion is that you refuse to believe data that is there, because it doesn't suit your argumentation and instead of gathering your own data to proof it wrong you just insult everyone who doesn't comply with your argument.

So yeah, let everyone draw their own conclusions from that ;)

An anecdote from one player with a spreadsheet?

Yup! That settles it! Case closed, fellas!

Except it is no anecdote, he gathered data over the course of 200+ matches :)

But sure, keep doomsaying.

Doomsayers are always right. That is why DBD died all these years ago... not.

I don't know what the ♥♥♥♥ you're on about. DBD never had any population issues to begin with. Here you go, https://steamcharts.com/app/381210 Actual stats.

This thing has got more in common with Predator Hunting Grounds than it does with something as successful as DBD,

No! I take that back. Hunting Grounds actually has a basic lobby system and bots to replace players when they occasionally crash/dc. This ♥♥♥♥ doesn't even have that.

The population stats are a fact, but doomsayers are not operating on facts.

They're for whatever reason present in every game. "Oh no, when developer does/doesn't do X, then the game is going to die!" and they were never right.

So it isn't a miracle that this kind of players is present in DBD too and since years they prophecize the nearing death of the game, that still keeps eluding it.

And you just should read the reddit thread that I shared, the guy gathered data across 200 games. Minority of these are PC players. Steam consists of, guess what, near exclusively PC players.

And they didn't release on Steam a year ago. And the very most players on Steam boycott EGS for their exclusivity deals.

So yeah, it is no wonder that the number of PC players in this game is comparatively very low and it is no wonder that no matter how many times they decided to give the game away for free on EGS that didn't help much in changing that fact.
Since the PC players, who didn't buy it a year ago, don't have EGS even installed, they'll never know, when the game was available for free on EGS.

By releasing on Steam they tap into basically a new market with a huge load of potential customers. And Evil Dead is not some No Name ♥♥♥♥ like VHS that just outright copies DBD basically in everything but characters and maps.

I love the franchise, and this pulls many people, but, besides the ones who only depends on fanboysm, I'm not sure if the new player will cope with the actual state of the game. With no SBMM and most of the players with an overall average of high level, new players won't stand a chance against them, specially if they play as a Demon.
Unfortunately that static closed player base has focused in asking to buff or nerf but they don't care about returning players or new ones

I think it does have SBMM. I mean, you can argue the SBMM isn't great because the number of players is too low for it work effectively right now, but I've been watching it streamed on Twitch some and it's rare to see very low level survivor players matched with a very experienced demon player or vice versa. Hopefully with a larger player-base that will improve.

It is playable solo

It requires internet connection permanently, It has some missions to do alone against AI as survivor, and you can fight as Survivor coop vs AI. There are no demon missions and there are not demon vs AI mode. Playing solo is like 10% of the whole game
