It will be much more lively with the Steam Release.

Majority of the Player Base are console players, less than 20% PC Players. So there is huge potential with the Steam Release.
It is hard data that you don't want to believe but can't refute either because you got no data of your own.
Feelings can't replace facts.
And you got no data about console players dominating multiplayer games either, otherwise you would post it.
That the playerbase didn't grow that well is explainable simply by the fact that it was solely on EGS. EGS gets boycotted by the majority of atleast the PC player base.
You can gift the game away as often as you want when people don't have EGS installed they won't see it.
I don't need to own the game to see and interpret the data, it is there and it was gathered by someone who owns the game.
Yeah, the conclusion is that you refuse to believe data that is there, because it doesn't suit your argumentation and instead of gathering your own data to proof it wrong you just insult everyone who doesn't comply with your argument.
So yeah, let everyone draw their own conclusions from that ;)
Yup! That settles it! Case closed, fellas!
Except it is no anecdote, he gathered data over the course of 200+ matches :)
But sure, keep doomsaying.
Doomsayers are always right. That is why DBD died all these years ago... not.
I don't know what the ♥♥♥♥ you're on about. DBD never had any population issues to begin with. Here you go, https://steamcharts.com/app/381210 Actual stats.
This thing has got more in common with Predator Hunting Grounds than it does with something as successful as DBD,
No! I take that back. Hunting Grounds actually has a basic lobby system and bots to replace players when they occasionally crash/dc. This ♥♥♥♥ doesn't even have that.
The population stats are a fact, but doomsayers are not operating on facts.
They're for whatever reason present in every game. "Oh no, when developer does/doesn't do X, then the game is going to die!" and they were never right.
So it isn't a miracle that this kind of players is present in DBD too and since years they prophecize the nearing death of the game, that still keeps eluding it.
And you just should read the reddit thread that I shared, the guy gathered data across 200 games. Minority of these are PC players. Steam consists of, guess what, near exclusively PC players.
And they didn't release on Steam a year ago. And the very most players on Steam boycott EGS for their exclusivity deals.
So yeah, it is no wonder that the number of PC players in this game is comparatively very low and it is no wonder that no matter how many times they decided to give the game away for free on EGS that didn't help much in changing that fact.
Since the PC players, who didn't buy it a year ago, don't have EGS even installed, they'll never know, when the game was available for free on EGS.
By releasing on Steam they tap into basically a new market with a huge load of potential customers. And Evil Dead is not some No Name ♥♥♥♥ like VHS that just outright copies DBD basically in everything but characters and maps.
Unfortunately that static closed player base has focused in asking to buff or nerf but they don't care about returning players or new ones
