Dev update on some things in the works!
Hey Survivors and Demons,

We wanted to share some changes that are coming in the GOTY update. The following notes are based on current conversations we’re seeing in the community and top feedback left by you on our Feedback Portal: http://feedback.saber.games/evil-dead-the-game

Ruby’s Active Skill Update
We plan to adjust Ruby’s active skill which buffs your group to make it less powerful.

Too. Many. Vehicles.
This has been the subject of many conversations with survivors and demons. We agree and plan to reduce the number of vehicles on the map. We hope this helps fix some of the early rush games that players have been experiencing.

Annie Knowby Buff
We are making some updates to Annie’s active skill so that it will receive a buff that increases the attacks of other Survivors in your group.

Deadites jumping in and out of windows
In the next update, we’re fixing the issue with Deadites being unable to jump in and out of windows on the Army of Darkness map.

No Damage After Being Revived
After successfully being revived, survivors will no longer take damage during the animation to a playable state. Damage will only occur once you’re able to move again.

We have more planned updates coming on April 26. Keep an eye on our socials, and we’ll share further details closer to the release.

Thank you all for your ongoing support, and stay groovy!

Ruby will still be OP, Annie is already S-tier and is getting yet another buff especially with the ongoing Leader meta? And all Survivors are getting a buff after being revived? You already "reduced" number of cars before and we seen the results.

This is extremely disappointing, I think the game is done.

I read the developer post to communicate that they recognize Annie has a bug, which they obviously didn't intend, isn't working correctly like she used to as players who leveled her expected when they chose to do that, and that they intend to fix that bug.

You are responding that fixing that bug is disappointing. At this point it's unclear there's anything the developers could do that you wouldn't react to negatively. Personally, I hope that developers fix unintended issues in their games.

Can you not read simple English dude? It clearly says "Annie buff" and not a bug.

Here:
Annie Knowby Buff

You also literally dismissed everything else I wrote. You don't even have the game but hey if you want to just consume blindly go ahead just don't go on trying to start something with me.

It does say "buff", but this page indicates Annie's aura is bugged: https://support.saber.games/hc/en-us/articles/7817343157777-Evil-Dead-The-Game-Known-Issues
Perhaps the update message's language is imperfect. Not trying to start something. You have made it clear where you stand on the game.
The Watcher Apr 5, 2023 @ 9:00pm
Not everyone checks that page and it is extremely sus how someone claims to not own the game came across it. You still dismissed everything in my post (especially Annie already S-tier) and went to blame me for their poor wordings, also sus.

People who played the game know what’s up, probably a bad Survivor player who doesn’t care about the game’s health. Or brainwashed by them in which case I suggest if you like the franchise/game you better start caring about actual complaints.

And yes, me and 90% of people who actually play both role made it perfectly clear where we stand and how frustrated we are. What is your point when majority of playerbase are not happy? How is this a “gotcha!” moment when we are not even being subtle? Need to remind you game was given away for free on both EGS and the giant Playstation and the players retention was pathetically low?

But you know what I think this patch will be the last for me and many others. Won’t even buy the DLC if notes aren’t worthy or even launch the game. So enjoy having your little “positive” playerbase who will be begging saber to fix “queue times bug” in no time.

I cannot believe you still keep promoting that page when many of us asked writing there and you ignore us repeteadly. Not even acknowledge of received or that you could consider the suggestions made there.
I love a lot the franchise and I still respect your studio, but you need to listen. It is important to:
- Bring new players
- Brought back the ones who left
To do so, you need please to listen and:
- Improve the actual matchmaking and add an SBMM to improve the experience for new, casual and not so good players
- Improve the tutorials, specially the Demon one. They are very basic
- Only expert demons are playing, to learn you should add Demon vs AI mode
- Many people is still asking EXP, spiritual points and progression in Vs AI mode, not just for difficulty, but also for the long matchmaking times.
- Give some love to the loyal PC people that bought the game in Epic and bring there achievements too. It is not fair that you add them in day 1 in Steam but ignore Epic players and Epic who is doing a great effort implementing an achievement system with XP and Trophies
- Cross progression in PC is key, many people won't buy if they have to start from scratch.

You cannot continue in the eternal cycle of buffing/nerfing characteristics of the game. Fan service with skins and characters is cool, but you won't retain or gain new players like that. You need to make the game more friendly, specially with new and casual players.

I am pretty sure I am talking for many people. It is true that you have a loyal fan base that doesn't complain and celebrate everything, but they are getting smaller every day.

We really hope that update would be really, really huge. It would be greatly dissapointing if it just another cycle of buffing/nerfing and no real improvements in matchmaking, quality of life experience, and make a more friendly environment for new and casual players. You know that for them, playing as Demon is pure hell?

And we know it's not impossible considering WWZ's still doing pretty well.

@Saber Interactive

Just loaded up the game on EGS after not playing for 9 months and we STILL HAVE NO FOV SLIDER?!

PLEASE implement this for the steam release! As it's the first thing people will leave negative reviews for, I can't believe it has been left out this entire time. The game is vomit inducing. I don't believe motion blur can be disabled on consoles either?

OMG. I Leaved months ago, and I like to return, but reading comments like yours make me sad. It is unbelievable Saber hadn't fixed this yet, among the SBMM, the long matchmaking times, the awful and painful learning curve for Demon players. When I read the patches notes I only see nerfing ot buffing of characters or characteristics of the gameplay or map, but never real changes like this. FOV slider would be really helpful. Unfortunately Saber only listens to the static closed fanboy player base that is happy with every new skin or character and have maximized all characters. They play only among them leaving no space for us casual or returning players, it surely will be hell for new players as well.

Please add progression transfers from Epic to Steam.
I would like to buy the game on Steam after i have played it for free on Epic. But if all my progress is lost in the process, I dont see myself putting down money only to have to start all over again.

I have just under 300 hours of gametime and I have had lots of fun along the way. Despite the various bugs and other issues with the game i still think you guys did a great job making a good addition to The Evil Dead universe.
So thanks for creating a fun game.

Many people is asking this in Twitter, Reddit, discord and here. They only have received silent treatment.
For WWZ we never received official cross progression, but transfer of the save file from Epic to Steam, this was a very manual and unofficial, but it worked. Maybe, maybe it could work for this game, but we cannot be sure of it.
The thing I don't agree is about a "fun game", I love all the fan service, references, voice lines and everything related to the franchise, but, as gameplay: it is broken, since Saber focused only in retaining the players who promotes the infinite cycle of buffing/nerfing characteristics of the game, they kept a static closed high level player base, and us new, casual, and returning players get our a*s*s* kicked everytime we play. There's not SBMM, and playing as a demon is the worst experience ever, never had been more trolled in any multiplayer game, whether asymetrical or not.
Maybe you are happy with the game and consider it fun because you could be able to keep up with the people who grow their abilities and you can compete with them, but for us new, casual and returning it is a real nightmare.

Your games dead and you killed it with your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ exclusivity

It seems to have an active community and new content is being released for it. Whatever dead looks like, it's less than that. Watching people play on Twitch it takes them 5-10 minutes to get a game as a survivor, 1-2 minutes if they elect to play demon. Game graphics look good, and people who don't care for Epic will be able to get it for PC this Wednesday. Or in your case, not?

I would differ slightly with you regarding to:
- The active community is a closed and static player base, not PSplus or the freebie week in Epic managed to increase the base player. It doesn't increase because the experience for new players is painful, specially for demons.
- New content is 90% skins and characters, no major innovations besides the horde mode hat wasn't as succesful. This new content is attached directly to a business interest to sell DLC, not to improve Gameplay
- Twitch players are usually high level players that are matched with other in high level that keeps playing. For the usual and regular player matchmaking takes longer than 10 minutes usually
- Of course demon matchmaking is faster, but experience is awful, a lot of trolling by Survs. The only demons who are playing are the high-level ones
- I do care about Epic update because:
a. Epic players are the only ones who doesn't have achievements. Even Steam will have them
b. I bought the game in Epic in pre-sale. Seeing that this version is the one who received lest love from Saber is highly dissapointing, there's not a loyalty reward for clients who have played since day 1

Saying that Saber is doing everything perfectly is to distort the reality and induce a premature death of the game. It is not fully dead, but its player base is very static. New players won't stay if there's not SBMM, they will get trolled. After a while, when the last DLC is sold, game wil start to fade, the game doesn't work offline, so yes, it will die eventually

Dan-El don't bother with some people, let them bury their heads into denial thinking they are doing the game or franchise any favor.

I think they are the ones who will be crying "queue times bug" 2-4 weeks after the update (and Steam release).
