Nah the gamergate garbage can stay here. We already got more virgins than a hentai-expo hanging around in Dragon Age Veilguard forums, just acting like morons who obviously don't play the game.
I met 2 people who mention at some point that the have a lover of the same sex
There is a racist guy in a side quest
There is a former slave in a side quest (That he was a slave is important in that quest)
I met 3 woman, who were in a position of power or leadership
2 of those woman were arrgoant, horrible people. (but to be fair you also meet some arrgoant, horrible guys)
There are a few conversation about how woman are treated badly (which they often are, the game plays in the 1600 after all)
The female protagonist (Antea) is often arrogant, agressive and has some really bad takes ( Things like "I understand killing of all the weak innocent people, so that the strong ones can survive")
Her random one-lines in combat become annoying really fast ("do you think, you can beat a ghost?" Yes i do, because you know Reds attacks are strong against ghosts...)
The male protagonist (Red) is more of a goody two shoes guy, who gets talked over by Antea a lot.
In the prologue there is one short conversation, where someone thought Antea was a "service girl" and Red explained, that she is the banisher and he is her apprentice.
Outside of Antea beeing really unlikeable (not necessary badly written, most of her actions make sense inside the games story) there is nothing i found problematic or negativ. The little Side Storys are Banishers biggest strength.
One warning: The fights become boring fast, not because the system is bad, but because how little variety it has
Lol in other words, not supporting anything that is showing the diverse nature of humanity.
You know, this game has, like, magic and ghosts and supernatural this and that. But a Black woman in fake New England just really broke the immersion for me.
What next? Asians at Hogwarts??!! Read your history, people. Stop the woke mind virus and reclaim our history.
The Wizard of Oz was white, okay? He just was
Are you saying it was impossible for a Cuban born woman to travel to New England costal town?
A few misconceptions i saw here and there tough, some stuff described simply isn't woke. I mean i'm getting allergic to this as well, espacially after dragon age veilguard, but let's not put gay people into this nonsense, and let's not put interracial relationships into this as well. woke is something else, and there is a reason why some women or gay people are furious or sad being put into the same bag as woke people. (However woke people do have huge interest in this happening)
While i do not want to see any woke non sense in any of my game, the romance is what drawn me in the first place. when i see a gay couple in a don't nod game i'm a bit sad, but it is only because i cannot relate and immerse myself into my character, simply because of being straight. When it happens i just think "well kudo for gay people who will have a game for them at least", same when a main protagonist is female and i think good for my sister.
Anyway way too many people who aren't interesting in this debate and don't understand even what's it's all about, so let's leave it at that and again, thx for the topic. I will buy the game since i think the "woke" elements won't disturb me too much in this one.
after reading a bit, removing obvious extremists from both sides, it's actually pretty easy to get a good idea of what to expect fortunately.
Thank you. This is enough to remove the game from my wishlist.
These characters tended to be white-washed as they moved into movies and other media. (I'm white, so don't start.)
Now, if you have a character with an exotic background, such as Antea who is a black Cuban, you get complaints about being woke. I actually occasionally did think that Antea could be a bit harsh, but she's also an interesting character and more interesting than a lot of other video game characters in recent games.
The game is telling a story about a diverse group of people with different backgrounds and with different perspectives on things. There is even a French woman.
Why this bothers and so triggers anyone is beyond me.
