Yes, it is super slow-paced. That's just the nature of these types of games. If you can name me a faster-paced one I would really like to try it since that sounds interesting to me.
I can't speak for all SoS games, but as far as both Doraemon games go you'll have to really absorb and appreciate the cutscenes and character interactions to get your full money's worth. I'm somewhat impatient myself so sometimes I skip cutscenes, but by the time I really developed villager relationships I started to cut that out since I was getting invested in the story. It's not for everyone but it's like reading a really good and heartfelt book.
Anyway what I meant by slow pace isn't the farming. That's what I'm here for. I was talking about the 1-2 hours of unskippable dialogue that the first game had. There was literally no real game play at all for 1+hrs. The game had you running around talking to the mayor and stuff to set up the story. I almost thought I had bought a visual novel.
