To anyone with issues on Epic

Welcome to all the new players, coming from Epic!

To anyone having issues with the start of the game (not loading, cursor doing weird things, locked in the main menu, etc), it's usually due to EGS not syncing your profile. Make sure Epic Online Services is installed.

Make sure you start the game with all intrusive apps disabled. Many reports of people using MSI Afterburner and some antivirus that block EGS from doing its job. Close down all apps for that first launch, then it should work fine.

If it still misbehaves, please let me know and attach player.log (important: I just want the output log, not crash dumps or crash logs). To find it, enter "%LOCALAPPDATA%Low\Dapper Penguin Studios\Recipe for Disaster" into Windows Explorer or the Start Menu > Run dialog.

I'm sorry you have so many people so angry. A lot of people struggle to follow direction and dislike minor inconvenience, and it sucks when that can turn so much of the feedback into useless negativity. It'd be pretty hard to fix something on your end when you have no control over the other applications causing the problem, and the fact that you found the source of the crash and how we can fix it so quickly is fantastic.

I've really enjoyed the game so far, and while I realize it's a work in progress, it's looking to be everything I've wanted in a restaurant simulator. The gift on Epic allowed me to find the game easier, and I'm really thankful for that. Good luck!

@Keats523: I strongly disagree. The devs implemented a ton of dubios checks and layers of anti cheat BS with the effect that the game has a lot of issues and random crashes.
I have almost 300 games on Epic and not a single one had such issues.
And no, i will not disable Defender or Afterburner just because the devs can't fix thier own game.

Not one anticheat was added. Zero. If you cheat, it's your problem. There's even a cheat console, FFS!

I don't have Afterburner, and turning off my AV didn't help - it's still crashing on the main menu after a few seconds. There isn't a player.txt file, but there is a player.log file.

Those that are having lag/crashing issues maybe post their GPU specs/system specs. This really sounds like a possible graphics driver issue? I may be wrong but, just really speculating.
I'm running a GeForce GTX 1060 6GB from Asus, all GPU drivers are up to date with GeForce Experience software.

It's true, some users were found using an integrated card, which definitely isn't supported. This issue is almost certainly solved by shutting down apps that don't allow EGS to do its job properly

Right, I'm not using integrated graphics, though and I still had FPS drops on the main menu AND in game. I don't use any overlays except the Steam Overlay. But once I purchased the copy on Steam after trying it on Epic during the giveaway, I didn't have any issues so it's only on the Epic launcher. My motherboard doesn't even have any integrated graphics on it. This is a PC I built myself.
I hope this information helps track down the issue or steers you towards anything useful :)

hey, is there an update ? I tried launching the game and crashed after being 3 seconds on the menu even after i shutted down the other apps
i just launched rise of industry for the first time and was immediately prompted with the epic permission request without having to shut down the other apps on my computer
maybe you can compare those two together and find out what is causing the error ?
anyway, i hope a solution is to be found soon

Just a point of clarification. You don't have to "shut down" MSI Afterburner or anything else. You just close it for the time while you open the game once. It'll do the EGS permission request, and that's all that's required. You won't have that problem again. So, you can launch the game with those apps running after that check has been done. It's a one-off requirement. Those programmes conflict with Epic launcher - not with the game - and so to get around that you disable one. Obviously you can't disable Epic launcher during that, so it's got to be the other. And, true, I've also had other games on Epic that do the check and haven't required me to close Afterburner, but it is what it is. Right-click the icon, close, launch game, then you're free to open Afterburner again. No problem.

Oh, and thanks Alex. I've been looking for a game like this for some time. I really enjoyed Restaurant Empire 2, but it's got problems from being outdated, so nice to find something modern that fills that niche. Bonus to get it free on EGS, too. I may even purchase this for Steam, also.

The problem I see in this is that when I play new games in epic games, it usually redirect or open a browser authenticating me, but in this game, nothing, no redirect, just the game exits

I got this game on EPIC a while ago for free and finished now everything after 71 hours in the game. The last level was pretty hard. Just wanted to say that i loved it.
