To anyone with issues on Epic

Welcome to all the new players, coming from Epic!

To anyone having issues with the start of the game (not loading, cursor doing weird things, locked in the main menu, etc), it's usually due to EGS not syncing your profile. Make sure Epic Online Services is installed.

Make sure you start the game with all intrusive apps disabled. Many reports of people using MSI Afterburner and some antivirus that block EGS from doing its job. Close down all apps for that first launch, then it should work fine.

If it still misbehaves, please let me know and attach player.log (important: I just want the output log, not crash dumps or crash logs). To find it, enter "%LOCALAPPDATA%Low\Dapper Penguin Studios\Recipe for Disaster" into Windows Explorer or the Start Menu > Run dialog.

So you consider Afterburner "intrusive app". Your Unity game just conflits with one of the best and legendary gaming apps to monitor GPU. And you will not fix it?

I don't blame anyone. All I'm saying is that it's intrusive and needs to be shut down. Many other games have this issues, and that's why I found the solution so quickly

Can confirm shutting down afterburner fixed this. First time happened not sure why but hey it fixed the cursor thingy.

sorry Alex to have to disagree here: a workaround is not a solution whatsoever. another user has pointed out the root cause and the MSI workaround and brought it to my attention.

Hey, it's impossible for me to play this game. Every time i launch it with the epic game launcher, i reach the menu and then the game crashes... I even tried with afterburner uninstalled and still the same problem..

Any clues ?

Many VR games also have issues with MSI Afterburner, specifically with the overlay - Riva TunerStatisticsServer. That's intrusive. I personally don't have such issues, but some friends with different GPUs did run into some troubles and closing Afterburner fixed it (for other games). Sometimes Discord Overlay also causes issues. Generally any app that injects its overlay into your game can cause issues. My friend even had an issue with Nvidia Geforce Experience overlay in one game.

i dont have msi afterburner and i cant play. what can i do? i have the epic online services installed

I cannot follow what l am not explained. Anyway it is the developers who have to make their games worked! Please please, please get in touch with Epic Unreal Engine support, as it advised to you, and fix the issue! I am sure, Epic support will be able to help you. It is not nice to give out a gift that is garbage. As you can see from the messages, nobody can fix it only you and only you! So will you please do so! Thank you forward.

@Alex Master Penguin, I discovered this game on the Epic store, free. I got it, tried it. I did have some issues with lag and such, but I enjoyed the game and I'm a loyal steam user. I hate everything about Epic Games and what that POS company does, but that's another topic. I went ahead and purchased the game on steam and tried it. Oddly enough, I don't have the FPS lag that I did while using the Epic launcher. That's just my solution. I know some can't do what I did, but the game is worth the purchase and I'm just stating what fixed my FPS lag.
As for the rest of you, just follow the topic or stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, seriously. too many overlays will cause issues anyways, Discord overly, Xbox game bar, MSI afterburner, whatever. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know all that uses GPU power, the less = the better.
Sorry you have to deal with this crap, Alex. You've created a wonderful game here.
