Platinumed the Game, a few thoughts
Hitman316 on PSN if the devs want to look it up just to confirm. So I want to say that if a sequel released, I would buy it but I'd really hope some things change.

So biggest thing for me was I liked the first half way more than the second half, way more. I thought the entry into the world was fun, exciting and felt fresh overall. It was simple and fun, that's what I wanted to experience. But by the end of the game I was have pretty much zero fun, I couldn't wait for it to be done.

To me sometimes less is more, I spent I think 43 hours to 100% this game but man so many fetch quests but that's not a major problem, it's when they send you to fetch something and then resend you right back to the same area, it became so repetitive. The core loop became apparent by mid game and was really dragging for me... But that's just me.

You guys really need to rethink enemy structure, placement etc especially with combat feeling slow depending on the weapon but by mid to end game I'm getting shot by arrows from everywhere, hit by invisible enemies, ticking damage from some element, it just wasn't fun. I found all I wanted to do was throw enemies off cliffs with kinetic if they were around what I needed or where I was going. It simply wasn't fun, especially with the enemies that disengage quickly and run away quickly, and it was just to me... Pretty bad.

The final boss was for me one of the most annoying and worst boss battles I can recall. Just found it to be zero fun, it's hard to break it down completely but it just felt cheap, but I found it zero fun and I'm not trying to just bust balls just describe my experience.

I like that there was a nice array of armors but honestly I didn't like it because the idea of crafting fire sets, ice sets... Is if you need to on the fly change out you can. Going back to town to switch gear is an odd choice. Why?

I went thru the whole game with one set that was like level 2 or 3.

I find no experience level system to be a let down because half the time kills, quests are just there.. No incentive really.. I want to feel like I'm going to get stronger as I kill enemies or turn in quests but that's just my preference. I just feel that chasing mats solely as my progression to be a little boring.

I think the kinetic stream was a fun and awesome magic but comes way to late. Thr servant a great idea but barely works. The ice armor didn't use it. The ice wall didn't seem to work we when it came to pinning down boss feet etc... They were stuck maybe 2 or 3 seconds.

I found the bosses while fun to still be wonky, like the concept was cool but there are things for instance like it was infuriating to start the harvest and still get flung or picked off, and that's because the harvest animation just felt so long... I mean either make it shorter and you're able to be flung off, or keep it longer and once you initiate it you're locked in for the kill.

As I said above tho ultimately I think less is more. Maybe cut back on dialogue a bit next time, get to the point faster, maybe a few less fetch quests, id rather a solid short but fun 20 hour romp than a 40 hour padded out romp, but that's just me.

Overall was an ok game, good start that felt pretty cool but man it petered out for me hard. I get maybe others will have a different experience but for me that's where I'm at.

Would've thought maybe at least some acknowledgement, I not only paid for the game to support the devs but 100% it on psn.
Yeah man I think your review is super fair! Also congrats on 100%! It’s a little clunky but man I’m really enjoying the game. I wish it had a little more polish. And I really hope they expand this world.

Yea man they have some good stuff here, just needed rounded out more on some things. I just wanted to be as honest as I could so that it gives them simply more perspectives, some may agree with me some may not which is cool, but my impressions were what I felt as I played it.

I'll be curious what they will do in the future.

Well guess time to move on, I mean they have 59 people in game on steam right now... I was happy to platinum the game, to really take it all in and give an honest opinion and review and was simply hoping for some acknowledgement and guess not, I find that a bit nuts given its current player count especially on steam... Not sure how game pass is doing but i spent full price for it as well and not like I expect a medal but was hoping to at least get the nod for supporting the game.

But that tells me all I need as I don't think they wanted to hear any true criticism of their game, it's a good but very flawed game the further you get In. As I said early on it was fun, and they built a beautiful world but too bad it was marred by some stuff that needed more work. This game would've done well with another 6 to 8 months in the oven

Just because the devs haven't paid this thread in particular a visit to acknowledge your feedback specifically doesn't mean they're not listening to negative feedback at all. Look at the recent announcements and you'll find they're actively trying to implement changes to address issues that many more players have reported, such as improving hit feedback and movement feel.

From one person who 100%-ed the game to another, I agree with some of your points, but you also need to realise that some of your criticism just cannot be addressed without completely re-designing the structure of the game, so don't hold your breath there. Making such sweeping changes requires resources and we don't know if the game made enough money to make that financially feasible.

If you'll allow me to give you a bit of (hopefully constructive) criticism of your criticism, I think your feedback would be more helpful to the devs if you didn't just point out what you feel wasn't fun, but also explained what they'd have to change to make it fun. Like, when you talk about the harvest animations being too prone to be interrupted, you're telling them what you think they'd need to do to improve it. But simply saying the boss felt cheap and wasn't fun or saying they need to rethink enemy placement because you were in combat so often (in an action game) doesn't really help them identify what it is you think they should do to improve the game. In what way should they "rethink enemy placement"? You mentioned some enemies disengaging too quickly for your liking, which is a good point that has been brought up before, but much of your criticism of enemy structure/placement just hinges on the idea that you were attacked by enemies (in an action game).

Not sure if you'll read this or if you'll actually move on after bumping your own thread one last time, like you said, but you can always leave a negative review, which the devs are bound to feel much more than a random thread in the forums.

P.S.: People, please stop citing low Steam concurrent players numbers for a one month old singleplayer game. Player numbers always plummet once everyone has finished the singleplayer content, and in the age of Game Pass, these numbers aren't very representative anyways.

Hey there, well the thing is I bought it on my pro for the platinum so didn't think I could leave a review still on steam but I mean its fine either way I just felt that writing an overall impression was more suited given I played elsewhere.

But the thing is it's not that I expect to see the changes made or anything but given tho that I don't think the game has done well, not as a knock just as a reality, putting the time and effort in to 100% it which like said not many will do, it'd just been nice to get a thanks for a thorough playthru and feedback. I seen them reply to some of the silliest comments about woke or dei or whatever, you'd think true actual feedback and true actual feedback from those that put in the effort to really give this game a fair shake would've been acknowledged is all, but to me and again not tryin to be a ♥♥♥♥ to me it shows that I don't think they genuinely want to hear criticism but that's my opinion. In any case thanks for the post, good read 👍
