Drakes fly far too often

I'm pretty early in the game but I've been trying to get my first few spells fully upgraded and I've found drakes to be the worst of the boss enemies so far.

90% of the fight is running in circles while the drake flies up above you spitting fire. This isn't fun at all, it's just super tedious. It would be fine if they didn't fly as often but I can usually only get a handful of swings in before they're off again.

I haven't fought it yet but I have seen another flying one in a cutscene in Dynevron. I have my fingers crossed that it's not as annoying as the drakes.

Use the ice wall spell to freeze their wings/head/legs to the ground and climb on them to attack.
In my experience if you can deal enough damage to cripple a wing they'll fly less often and spend less time in the air.

Use the ice wall on them when they start going up - it will add more weight to them, forcing them to land immidiately.
