That's what I was doing and had a pretty easy time fighting them.
Winter's Gauntlet is also very effective, allowing you to trade blows with the surgeborn, and then finish them off with an icy explosion once their armor wears off. Just make sure you rip away the shield with Weaver's Grasp or else you'll spend a lot of time getting blocked.
The ice bow is also fairly effective. Alternating between tracking freeze shots and normal shots to break through the armor and eventually shatter the enemy. Remember that upgrading the weapon to a higher level also increases the effectiveness of the special attack, meaning more tracking arrows at higher levels.
And also worth noting is I'm using the Windscall armor. The massive boost in mana regen allows for extremely frequent use of magic.
early to mid was mostly on opportunist(increased max mana) armor. even a good chunk of the late game. swapped to nameless (increased max stamina) set once ive gotten all the blueprints.
you should definitely push to get your gear at the max level of what sola's workshop can do so you dont feel to weak. i remember only doing 30 damage to the surgeborn hounds when i first hit those areas.
remember that you also need to get the best materials on your gear. ironheart crystals and lustweaves should be plentiful enough within all levels of dynevron to be able to swap mats
Yea I gotta advance story a bit more to get sola unlocked another level.
The ice 2-hander is a simple strong hit with multiple ice lines thrown out. You and the enemy stay grounded while they suffer the cold.
Overall I'm happy I bought the game, it'll be a nice platinum when finished
Never bothered trying to do the slowdown bug from the demo but im also assuming it got patched out
The one enemy I hate more than a thing are those armored lizard things the fat ones, those suck so bad no matter what I use. I just throw them off a cliff but they suck
That's the thing that's weird is even when cranking those those with fire they're still just clobbering you lol they suck so bad.
See what I dislike is how we are faced with differing elements all throughout stages so it's like you can't always truly prepare or change on the fly.
But man that fire 2h really helped with the surge enemies
I find during normal fights, the kinetic two-hander's ability is really only useful for getting rid of enemies, but like Hades said, it has good utility as a way to jump really high, even outside of combat. And it's helpful for getting up on boss arks without having to climb up their legs or waiting for their arms to get close enough to the ground.
