The devs have been very good at communicating here, so perhaps they can implement some kind of occasional autosave that triggers at specific intervals during excursions.
It might take quite a while to implement such a system, though, if indeed it's feasible in the first place. Can you give us some additional information on how the game crashes (crash to desktop, bluescreen, is there an error message etc.?) Perhaps if we find the reason for these crashes, you could keep playing even with the save system as-is?
BTW: I've noticed the devs have created a "Bugs & Issues" sub-forum. Perhaps you could post there to make the devs find your post more quickly.

Win 10 and GPU drivers are up to date.
Have you tried the usual combination of verifying game files and deleting/re-compiling your shader cache?
Was working fine until yesterday.
I have crashes often (but I’m playing on steam deck on windows partition, so not ideal) but I had one where I found new Loomgate and after crash I had it opened even I wasn’t in camp before game crashed.
Really sorry this is happening!
A couple of follow-up questions & troubleshooting actions to try:
- What CPU do you have?
- Have you verified the integrity of your game files on Steam? (right click on the game in your library - General - Installed files - "Verify game files are installed correctly")
- Have you tried deleting your shader cache?
Let us know if any of this helps!
Game autosaves during the time you're exploring. Not sure what triggers autosaves, but I had a crash right after killing a boss and once after randomly running around and while it loaded me back in the camp, it still saved all the loot and strand that I collected on the run. (Got some mats I didn't have before, so that's how I knew it saved them as well).
My game only crashed on longer sessions though, 4-5-6 hours and it just ctds with fatal error (it was pretty consistent as it happened almost every time). I tried verifying files, purging cache etc but nothing seems to have worked. It was happening both in demo and full game.
CPU: 5800x3d, 3080ti, 32gb ram.
and i know it autosaves because when you go to the loom, the area boss you killed will be crossed out
What will manual saves help during a run though? Even if you save at camp, you're screwed if you crash while out scavaging.
This is what is happening to me. Play for like 4 hrs and it throws up a UE error and hard crashes to bsod or soft locks entire system.
Games should not be doing this in 2025...
Edit: So, I got on again today and looks like the quest and recipe unlocks survived the crash, though don't think the resources did as I picked up something from one of the Arks for a gear upgrade and don't have the material now. I'm glad the recipes are there as they were hard to find.
