One thing I wanna note is that I used to wear very heavy armour focussing on raw armour value for a bit, and that'd actually make a handful of enemy attacks bounce right off without doing any damage. When attacking some doors, as well as when attacking the armour plates on the big boss arks and some of the heavily armoured standard enemies, I've also noticed I need to use my two-hander to be able to damage them at all. That suggests to me that armour may have a threshold where (for example) if the full damage value is lower than the armour value, attacks cause no damage at all.
This is super helpful for now thanks. Hoping a dev can respond to provide clarity.
I think cold/heat work both about increasing the time the takes to proc, but also provides a DR for attacks of those elements. I have a bunch of fire res and I can stand in a room on fire with no real problems, but an enemy with an ice attack does a crap load of damage.
If I'm wearing extremely light armor, and walk into my own Ensnaring Blast field, I physically cannot walk out. When I tried the same thing with heavy armor, I was able to in and out without any noticeable difference in move speed.
I also suspect that using the Blast to catapult yourself is less effective with more weight for the same reason.
Moving around in ice also felt more difficult in heavy armor. Granted, I also had less Ice Resistance, so I'm less sure of the relationship there.
I’ve been experimenting with running & jumping while wearing various armor sets. Lighter armor seems to allow for further jump distance as well.
