What does the Watcher's Whisp do

I've unlocked the Watcher's Whisp. But what does it do? nothing seems to happen when hitting the key for it.

It should show you a graphical effect that points you to your nearest quest objective in a straight line. It probably only works if you're actively tracking a quest that has a quest marker.

hmm, that's not happening on my end. At least I'm trying it on sidequests (Drowning or Burning Curiosity), I'm on the right map, in the right zone, but I don't see a line appearing

Remind me, are those side quests that require you to find a bunch of plants? If so, maybe the whisps only work on quest where you have a single, definitive quest marker or something. Have you tried pressing the key while tracking a main quest?

No, these have specific spots where you have to go to

Make sure you have the quest selected in your journal for the wisp to guide you to relevant locations.
