Finding Blueprints isn't very fun
Given that there is verticality in the maps, I'm not really loving climbing everything just to see whether or not the top of the cliff is out-of-bounds or if there's anything on top of that tree or rock outcropping.

Do you ever get any assistance in finding these things? If not I'm probably going to use a guide or something. I'm not against having a limited map, but there isn't even a compass, so it feels like something is missing as far as how you're supposed to navigate in the game.

There is a compass in the options you can turn on.

Wait, you're saying the ones I have NOT found are shown?

As for the compass, I had no idea, thank you.

You are the 2nd person on here that I have seen that did not know about the icons on the map. A tutorial should mention this.

I see the icons on my map. The map stats say I have found 3 out of 5 blueprints. The map shows 3 icons with green check marks. I noticed that as I found more blueprints, more icons appeared on my map - first 0, then 1, then 2, and now 3.

Am I incorrect to think that the map is showing the blueprints -that I have already found?-

Would it not show 2 icons if I was only missing 2 blueprints?

Which map? They were there before I found them in my game.

You're looking at the completed locations - the stuff you already found. Those have a green checkmark. The ones you're still looking for are very small hammer icons in the same color as the map. They're very hard to see, but if you take a look at your checkmarks you'll find the hammers next to the checkmarks. That way you can see what you're looking for.

That's fascinating. I am playing the demo. Do you have the full version?

I'm referring to the in-game map, it looks hand-drawn as 'an artist's impression' of what is where but is not terribly good at showing exact details, lol.

Thank you that is exactly what I was hoping for. I am going to look at the map again VERY closely to verify this...

Holy crap, I see the icons now. Thank you! This will work fine for me, but some players will probably complain about having to play Where's Waldo on the map, lol.

If the game just said hey these blueprints are right here and here and here with big clear high contrast icons then it would no longer be a exploration for blueprints. It would nearly be following a waypoint. This lets people look at the map and possibly spot one and head to it or not even see them on the map and find them by themselves if they don't want to actively look at the hints while still having access to the map.

Lol, I'm talking about having to stare at the map until you find the icons, that is unusual for a game to ask you to do. For me it is fine. Frankly I would have been fine if they gave an approximation as to where they are. It really does tell you almost exactly, you just have to study the ancient map, heh.

It's not telling the player that the map has this information that I take issue with. I was wasting time exploring the game world (as stated above) because I didn't know this was an option. I tend to lean away from making players play a game of 'did the devs consider this'

To be clear, it's fine now that I know the hints are there. Anyone who needs more help should look in a guide which is what I was just about to do...

Thank you for your feedback! Will relay this to the team for consideration :)

i figured this out myself and thought it was a nice little gimmick, not knowing is not game breaking, you will stumble across some of them anyway. I do have one on my map that I can't seem to find even though I know where it 'should be'. (northernmost on the first area), although i think it might be behind this door int he cave that maybe unlocks later!?
And the stumbling on them, and then seeing the ticked off boxes will give you the hint those icons means something.

You can unlock it if you finished the next area. There is something you have to do. The game makes it clear in another area but you can likely figure it out early. Don't worry if you can't.

Spoiler for the door at the top of the first map with the crafting blueprint:

there is a non-burning torch / brazier next to a pillar near the "door", try to ignite it :winter2019coolyul:
