What's with the low review and player counts?
Surely more people are interested in this..

Hey guys!

Thanks for all the constructive feedback and for sharing your thoughts on our game's mechanics, characers & story. While we are very proud of the world we've built for Eternal Strands, we completely understand that it won't resonate with every player, and that's A-OK. We take all of your first impressions and thoughts shared here into consideration as we continue to grow and build ourselves up as an indie studio with lots of ideas and ambitions We hope you'll stick around as we explore them!

We're going to lock this thread down now as the conversation is veering into some off-topic chats and discussing other games, and we'd prefer to keep these discussions focused on Eternal Strands feedback specifically (see Community guidelines). Thank you for your contributions, and thank you for your understanding!

Edit: Adding this info as well in relation to OP's question about our player count - Steam numbers indeed do not give the full picture, but we are very proud of the results we have had self-publishing our first game :)

Probably the impact of Gamepass.

I won't say anything about identity politics or like that. The game looks very vibrant and functional. The main issue with alot of games nowadays, this one included, seems to be they are just sterile and uneventful. We play games for the gameplay and such, but if the game does have a story, it seems to be the current trend to make things as generally inoffensive as possible.
Even if it came out on Gamepass its still pretty bad that its under a 1000+ players on Steam a day after launch day....

6min in the demo and i can tell i am not interested in the strong warrior barbie story with her furry friend. Unskippable cutscenes are also annoying af.

Good it has a demo

Looks like it's flopping hard. Maybe it is a huge hit on Gamepass.

I mean i've played 9 hours now and that's not a part of the story at all?

I'm playing on Game Pass and think it's a really solid game for a new studio. I love how all the different powers interact and how you can use them for traversal as well. I'm actively choosing to play this over FF7: Rebirth and Dynasty Warriors: Origins, which I think says a lot about how much I'm enjoying it.

It's incredible how many fake reviews there are for it on Steam/how many burner accounts the devs are using to try to bolster the rough launch sales and search ranking on here lol. So many reviews saying "A little rough around the edges but that's just what happens when a talented new dev team strives for true ambition! Truly, a game of all time! Give it a shot!" or "Wow, all that disappoint with the demo COMPLETELY disappeared when I paid $$ for the full game! Now I love it! Amazing!"
I highly doubt they are manipulating the reviews. It’s a good game by many accounts - maybe not perfect, but it also doesn’t have an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating.

This game is a 6/10 game that had almost zero marketing, so don't expect it to do well. Most haven't even heard of it at all, and at first glance it looks like just another generic 3rd person ARPG with Fortnite graphics... which it is...

Forspoken vibes?

Gamepass, sure, but also because of no launch discount, maybe? I know it's almost purely psychological - what difference does a few dollars make, really - but at 10% off this probably would have been an insta-buy for me. As it is, I'll wait for a sale, because I've got plenty of other games to play anyway. And I say this as someone who loves the demo; I've got over 10 hours in it and I'm still not even done with it yet.

The blight of using default Unreal Engine assets and settings rears its head!

I get there are bad games out there, but I think it's sad that you get games like this that has what id say a good 30 to 40 hours of enjoyment and gamers just fluff it off without a care in the world, how people reduce it to "having fortnite graphics and that's it"... Which is so far from the truth even the first area is filled with unique atmosphere, artifacts, waterfalls, old statues, a world full of mystery to explore.. A good crafting system, quests, fun gear upgrades..

I just can't fathom working so hard on a game like this for people to just shrug it off as if it's nothing, what a shame.

The game isn't perfect but for what you get at 39.99 I think it hits the mark.

It looks interesting. But i refuse to play any game that genderlocks to female, I always play a male character no matter what game it is if the game wont let me i wont play it.

I like to play games to immerse myself, I literally cannot immerse myself if i'm looking at jiggle the entire time.

Idk what others are having issues with, It looks decent to me aside from the genderlock. If they had a male option i'd purchase it right now.
