Overall tho the more I play the more I am glad I bought it. The menus are super clean and very nice, and the crafting is pretty good but I wish we had a larger capacity.
Overall tho I'm saddened by the lack of buzz, in some discords im in i cant get anyone talking about it.
crying in avowed forum
crying in dustborn forum
crying in concord forum
crying in flintlock the siege of dawn forum
the list goes on
you spend too much time crying over games you are never gonna play I think you need another hobby
go play helldivers or GTA or something idk
and here i thought your long post was actually gonna be something insightful, boy was I wrong.
im just saying man thats a lot of time spent arguing over this SBI nonsense on steam for games you never bought or ever will play
a job or a hobby seems neat brother.
Im buying avowed btw, but yea matt hansen is a pos.. Am I wrong? It's disappointing to see studios like Obsidian which I love and enjoy so many games from to have an unhinged loser like that. But I'll still buy the game.
Do you want to see my platinum of Veilguard as well, I'll post it.
Just because I dunked on garbage games and come on bro, those games are dei trash and you know it, deserves zero defense... Has nothing to do with a game like eternal strands that has problems but seems like a good game overall.
I will plat the game and simply enjoy it, I already do enjoy it but it needs tweaks. Serious games deserve serious feedback.
The art style is also more competent and looks good, proportions of characters also is really beauty canon respecting.
You are drunk go home.
You earned a clown. Congrats.
He overtly praised the game's combat and graphics while offering critiques on the cast and general plot. Nothing he said was lacking in constructive criticism. Touch some grass.
@ the original poster: I appreciate the summary.
The combat looks fine, and I'm a big fan of Immortals: Fenyx Rising and Kingdoms of Amalur, both of which feel like influences here (the former in terms of menus and gameplay, the latter in terms of aesthetics).
But yeah, the overall plot and cast remind me a lot of Veilguard. Given that the lead director was working on Project Joplin (Dragon Age 4) before Bioware made the foolish choice of giving him the boot and ultimately choosing Corrine Busch to run the whole project into the ground... I wonder how much of this game is pulling from his previous work. If the tieflings started as Qunaris and if the "Surge" and "Enclave" started as the "Veil" and "Minrathous."
Also, yeah... I don't get any sense of place from the cast. Any idea of what the factional / racial dynamics of the setting are, or if their rag-tag group of inclusive, diverse miscreants are an exception to the rule or a pretty bog-standard party. It just... eh. I'm waiting until the zeitgeist dust settles and I know more about the game before I decide one way or the other.
Thanks for your thread. Edit addition: wishlisted it so that I'd know to come back later to look. I'll be real... the characters aren't gripping me, and if I didn't wishlist it, I'd probably forget about it in a few days.
How does that work in this game? Are the generic and poorly written characters and stories forced down your throat? Can you skip cutscenes and dialogue? Is there endgame that's worthwhile with no story?
I started to agree with your post but then you went off the rails.
Firstly this really is nothing like Veilguard whatsoever. Did you play that game? Sure visually you could say that there is some mild similarity in the art style but only very very very loosely. Both games have entirely different art direction and i could be shown a still image from either game blind and tell you exactly which of the two the image was from.
Gameplay wise they are even further apart.
Protagonist is just fine. She is cute. She is likable. Her character and story is more than serviceable in the context of the story. I also disagree strongly about the characters in your hub. Have you stopped and spoken to them frequently? They all have very specific and well defined personalities that you can interact with in meaningful ways. They are all likable. They all have desires that are driving them. I actually really like the voice acting but also the dialogue and its one of the few games where i'm enjoying talking to them.
So to reiterate I was merely talking about the art style of the the map area etc.. And the one character instantly reminded me of how Qunari looks in veilgard but like, it's a simple statement I'm not saying it's bad I just recently finished Veilgaurd and with the talk of "veil", a character named "Sola" reminding me of Solas, it just seemed to grab inspiration but it was simply an observation.
That aside, I love the game... Once I upgraded my sword combat instantly felt better overall so I think most people need to get upgraded and it'll feel better.
I think what's sad is there's zero buzz for this game and it deserves people's attention, especially that they went for the 39.99 pricepoint. I'm a gamer that typically wants to experience as much as I can, so AAA, AA, indies.. I try to hit many of them.
I want to typically experience first hand and I'm glad I bought this.
Brynn is fine but I'm not like smitten by her, I just feel she falls into alot of what we get these days.
But the game itself traversing around, the menus, the magic, the combat which I really think some people are being over the top about, attacks feel pretty good... Its a charming game and I want more games from devs like this that are tryin to make a good product.
So that's my stance, I hope it can make a good return for them to do more for it and future products.
I was not even aware of this game until the weekend before it launched when i noticed the demo.
I checked the demo out but actually didn't have a good time with it. In my opinion the demo was bad. It didn't show off the games strengths. Instead of just letting you play the intro to the game which is fairly slow and has lots of dialogue to listen to or read - they should have given you a bespoke section where you are loaded up with some skills and gear and then a very quick battle tutorial and then pitted you against a giant. That to me is the games absolute selling point.
Last night i had one of the most epic battles with a dragon i've ever had in a game. They need to sell the game on that and not a slow drawn out and fairly boring intro.
Now don't get me wrong - the intro to the game is great when you are sitting down to play the full game - but not as a tool to sell your game to a generation of gamers that expects fast pace and instant gratification.
Even after my brief time with the demo (and i quit at the dragon battle because it just didn't feel right) i had no idea what the game was about.... something something about having a kinetic and ice spell. Some pretty weak mele and ranged combat that felt off.
Now i'm four hours in with upgraded weapons i love the combat. I do think it needs to be further tuned but its clearly enjoyable, thrilling and very open in how it lets you aproach situations. The enemy AI is fantastic - especially the giants and the way each of those encounters plays out is amazing. Truly the games selling point - yet nothing about the demo sold that to me.
Still i took a risk and i'm glad i did.
To me this game is really unique, beautiful to look at and thrilling to play and offers something very different from anything else in my library as well as offering a huge amount of content for a very low price.
None of that is clear though to your average consumer on steam who is bombarded with new releases every day and so this game will sadly get overlooked.
My hope is that the gamepass players will post on social media and people will see how great the game can be once you start to get creative with it.
Yea the characters are what id say are passable, I mean I don't want to come down hard on them because they're not bad but they aren't like wow so memorable like others that's all but I think the beauty of the world they created the eye catching scensdy and ambiance, the menus are great, the crafting is fun... It all lands. Definitely worth it at 40 but when a sale comes around even more so 👍
lol this nerd does homework investigating other peoples post. Could you be anymore of a chronically online, perpetually alone, involuntarily celibate...
It is not investigation. It is misrepresentation/exaggeration of what happened.
Also it is perfectly normal to NOT BUY after you see SBI involvement and the nonsense put in the game. Informing devs why they are going to be out of job is a sign of good manners. It is not crying.
This dude can go and work as a western urinalist. But gotta be fast, not much time before they are all in between jobs.
