Have a wonderful day!

Has there been any DEI consulting of any kind?
Has there been any DEI implementation in the game?
Has there been any financing of the game or developer based on DEI criteria?
From the looks of the demo, it looks like the answer to one or more of these questions is a YES.
Hey there! 👋 To confirm the following:
No, we did not have any DEI consulting. We have a talented (and tiny!) team of writers that worked on the game that are employed full-time that worked on the game.
No, we did not receive any financing based on DEI criteria of any sort. In fact, we're self-publishing on top of that.
Yes, we do have accessibility features. Yes, we do have various characters in the game, including a female protagonist who has her own storyline. Yes, almost all of the story is skippable if you'd prefer to focus only on gameplay if that's what floats your boat.
We don't intend on being misleading, and we have nothing to hide. We also know that the game won't resonate with everyone, and that's okay. We worked incredibly hard as a team of developers to make a game that we always wanted to play - and we hope that it resonates well with some of you, while always knowing that no game is perfect and no game is the perfect game for everyone!
Hope this helped - we are happy to answer any other questions you have about the game if you have them! 😊
Thank you for your honest answer.
As an older gamer, I well remember when games set in (fictional) ancient times respected the nature of the era and correctly represented the people. There were many years when inserting non-accurate characters was a non-issue because it was not perceived as a forced agenda.
However now the cultural wound is sore and this game does appear to intentionally rub the sore wound. This goes far beyond games. The LA Fire Department is a recent example where there were dire consequences of this forced unnatural agenda. It is not seen as innocent or benign, but this agenda that you call 'accessibility features' is viewed as a malicious and adversarial nefarious cultural revolution.
The fact that you offer no way to disable this 'accessibility feature', that it is forced into the game, is offensive in the present context. So lets be as clear as one can be. That the 'accessibility feature' is mandatory, or forced, is a red flag and offensive to many.
I won't have more to say on this as you've answered my question the other day, and answered this person question.
Again, can't thank you enough for your time to answer.
Sorry, to be clear - any and all accessibility features (e.g. colorblind mode, subtitle sizes, etc.) are all optional! Hope this clears things up. 😊
Oh okay my misunderstanding. The way your reply read, I misinterpreted 'accessibility features'. Thanks for the clarification.
My point still stands. The game appears off-putting. That is based on a live stream of the demo gameplay. There is a prominent display of the aforementioned cultural agenda with no way to disable it.
For what it's worth, as developers, we don't have an agenda. We are just a group of game devs that got together to make something we thought would be fun and cool, and that's what has driven us from day one: a passion for game development. We know that everyone's definition of "fun and cool" will vary, though, so all we can do is our best at the end of the day!
With that in mind, we tried to give players as much freedom as possible - if you want to focus on story, then you have plenty of optional dialogues to go through. If you want to focus on gameplay, then everything story and character related is safely skippable! Ultimately, some folks will like the game, and some folks will not. We respect both opinions equally, and are eagerly looking forward to hearing everyone's honest thoughts as they play (or don't play!) the game. 😊
Anyway, hope that answers some of your questions - hope you have an awesome day ahead!
Thank you for your reply. I interpret your response as "like it or leave it." I know which choice to make.
