Please note, Act 4 is completely overturned at the moment, and I only lived because Blood builds on a character that specializes in crits are completely broken. (had an 87% crit chance and 70% dodge chance at the end, and I still barely squeaked by.
Weird. Did you have it in the first trinket slot? as I used the secret orb in trinket slot 1 just before writing that comment and it worked for me.
I also fought the arch angel as the last boss of the run, and once I beat her I just went right to Act IV, Night 19. Honestly though you're not missing out on much. All enemies in Act IV only drop 100 gold and, as mentioned, are overtuned as hell. So the only reason you'd want to would be for the "new Day" heritage rewards.
To put into perspective HOW overtuned:
The first Act IV fight are 4 Veteran Mounted Knights and the Ascended Boss all together and all of them with 2500+ HP.
Considering I was killing most things in 1-2 turns, bosses included (except those who had invulnerability mechanics), it seems manageable from what you mentioned so far.
I equipped the merged orb and got a bonus wave. After clearing it I unequipped the orb, and got another bonus wave, then got a victory screen after beating it. I had to fight the high synod cornelius guy (act 3 final boss). So I am not sure if that is the intended ending or act 4 was cut short because I took off the orb.
Edit: Yeah he was indeed the final boss, I just did another run and kept the orb the whole time.
