Are all the characters unlockable or free?

Sorry I'm still new but are all the characters in the game free or are there still characters that needs to be purchased?

all the characters except for those from the dlc for season 2 are unlockable you unlock them as you complete the game

so if ever they complete or continue the story they'll still be unlocked for free in the future?

i already completed the story mode and unlocked some of the characters

I'm not sure but I assume they will become free if they continue the story

Most characters like rengoku, shinobu, sabito and what-not are unlocked in the story, but the demons like Rui and Akaza are unlocked via the DEMONS panel in the reward section of the game, with points from different story chapters and stuff.

All the season 2 characters though are bought dlc, including gyutaro, s2 tanjiro/inouske/zenitsu and awakened nezuko

oh, I didn't know that because i had u locked them when i got the game for the other person on this discussion thread sorry for that

Don't worry, I had the same experience where they were unlocked instantly for me as well. They only changed it recently which is why we didn't have to experience it
