the old Battlezones - set on the moon in a secret cold war Has the 1st person plus can zoom out and order and build stuff.

Old bit janky controls but really nice hover flight, there are two redux versions on steam
i kinda like the 1st a bit more, thats more the cold war plot but 2nd looks a bit more flash

Oh yea Antaeus is awesome - may need to read some guides maybe to setup graphics for modern aspect but not hard. That was the only true successor to CC up to now imvho, bit different game play but great.

Plus has the voice of Avon from Blakes 7 narrating

Not strictly ;) the original sir, that is a remake, it looks ok but the path finding kills it a bit, a beta patch makes it not so bad. So worth a look. Has some really nice elements but for me didnt quite get things right.

This is the original '80's groundbreaking classic' Carrier Command the Amiga 500 original bout the size of a giff in memory, this one may have dated a tad

^ Yeah I know it´s not the original, for one, the original as you stated was/is for Amiga. I doubt the OP wants to play on a Amiga 500 if he could fine one, and two, CC2 is probably based on the Bohemian remake. The Bohemian remake is alot better with the Deadly Island mod IMHO, anyone who wants to give it a shot would be better off with stated mod. But if Amiga is a must, then there´s a recent remake called the Amiga 500 mini if that rocks you´re boat.

yep the one you showed answers the Op question for play ability for sure. Im just an eager tragic fan a bit ;) Dont think id ever go back to the Amiga version prefer its a nostalgic memory.

Have only tried CC Operation Gaiha beta not with Deadly islands mod yet, so sounds like i should check it out. The actual game engine is great but in vanilla just not cooked right imho. A good mod could be just the thing.

If you want something hack'n'slash, there is Kindom Under Fire: The Crusaders, and the standalone expansion Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes. Don't let Kindom Under Fire II's disastrous failure scare you away. The older ones are great. They are like Dynasty Warriors, except you are also ordering all your units around the map. And how you move them is very important. You cant just hack and slash your way to victory.

If you like space games there's Pulsar: Lost Colony. It lacks the deployment of vehicles but keeps the station management aspect and adds first person combat as well as ship vs ship.

Nice! I thought I was the only man in the world to play that. AFF is a great game, even though it's noticeably made as a hobby project.

But it's nothing whatsoever like Carrier Command :P
