Anyone else experiencing barges full on bugging out? I made 4 Mantas. I ordered 4 Mantas. I queued the barge to the island with the Mantas. Barge is empty, carrier has plenty of room. (This is on a different run then the one I used to test the save editor, so the "2-ing" issue I had doesn't apply to this run)
ANNNND nothing. It going to the island, starts "waiting", and then gives up and goes idle. (or to the carrier if that's the next task in the chain.)
The barge worked normally up until I took the first island, then just decided to stop loading everything. Reloading and checking game files does nothing.
Tried without any mods, same issue happened after a while.
Edit: Making a new barge also doesn't fix the issue. The save is just dead. New game works as expected.
That is fascinating. I have played since near day 1, including before and after the warehouse change. From live play experience, barges could indeed pick up item without needed a carrier waypoint, up to at least update 4, as long as you have your orders correct.
When the warehouse change happened, pre-loading a barge without a carrier waypoint was directly how I finally beat campaign the first time. A waypoint to the island and then a looped waypoint to ocean next to said island was how I pull that off.
This is absolutely an Update 5/1.5.2 change, or rather bug. Ty for helping me isolate the issue. I'll bring this up on the issue tracker.
This is a deliberate change with update 5 and *not* a bug. This change happened because now we can have multiple carriers on the same team in multiplayer.
You need to tell your carrier to go to the island AND back to the ship, without a carrier in the waypoints the barge does not know what cargo to collect.
If it still doesnt work for you, try using a fresh new game, the other recent changes to cargo weight can break barge loading on old saves
So, yes you do need to make the barge go to the island and then the ship as said before.
Besides that, there is kind of an edge case I have noticed and the reason for it is kind of apparent if you stop to think about it.
Sometimes, if your barge starts out really close to the island, and you order the barge to the island and then to the ship, it will fail. The barge will already be at the island, look at what it needs to pick up, and decide it's done before you actually manage to put the waypoint onto the ship.
The workaround to this problem is very simple. Just give the barge a movement waypoint a short distance away from the island, then to the island, and then back to the ship.
