How to use Helicopters
Hi, how do I use the helicopters properly? (I don't mean with manual control, but as AI) These simply don't attack the targets. The planes do it. Except the helicopters.

From what I've seen AI helis need missiles to attack. But the players will be able to use the MGs properly

Correct, MG's work great.

Missiles only work ( in my experience ) if you have pre-tagged all the enemies and you manually lock/fire missiles yourself.

I have had success with IR missile helicopters:

- Launch helicopter away from target;
- Waypoint helicopter to position facing target about 2 or 3 km away; then
- Issue attack order, try using the "any" option as it's less buggy than the specific weapon ones.

You can also use light bombs (if they have no AA):

- Launch helicopter away from target;
- Setup triangular loop of waypoints over sea. One of these 3 waypoints should be about 2km from target; then
- drag attack order from the waypoint 2k away from target and choose any.

The bombs method should also work with chain guns, note that the razorbills do a plane style strafe right over the top of the target making it pretty risky.

I don't quite understand why they bring up a game in which such basic functions do not work .....

typical i send a scout plane and mark some enemys, and then i send the helicopter since it can shoot IR missiles from quite far away. Example to take out air defence units or ships.

tip.. when giving the helicopter an attack order then be aware that it will stop and hover directly over the target once it have fired.. I think this is a bug it should circle instead or at least allow us to give it waypoints so it follow them after the attack.
example attack -> move to wpt 1, wp2, wp3 and example land on carrier.
Something like that.

What do you think is not working ?

Air units have very limited munitions and shall never engage a target without being ordered to. This is what they do in the game.
Some weapons require specific actions to fire (like laser missiles), but again, this is how it is supposed to work.

The unit AI is mostly stupid and need to be micromanaged, but those units are supposed to be drones, not advance death robots. The game gives tool for that, it does not explaine how to use them (which is sad), but they exist and are working.

The attack order for Choppers do not work.
And the stupid AI is driving me insane. Choppers should do an decent attack, when ordert.
The graphics are terrible
It s 2021!!!!
For d 9.99 € Gma, okay, but 43 €?

The two most effective ways for using Razorbills ive seen is as a stable launching platform for Laser and TV guided missiles. Save the IR missiles for the ground based arrays and the albatross. Load the Razorbills with Laser and TV guided, fly into range, release, then land. It has the advantage of being an airborne platform that can fire safely from within the CIWS grid of the carrier, then land straight away, whereas the Albatross or Manta must take off and expose itself to AA.

Unfortunately as stated before, attack orders for rotor-wing aircraft cause them to behave as fixed wing aircraft and fly over their target exposing them to enemy fire, so I keep them for manual use only. An example of their use would be to fire a TV guided missile at an enemy SWORDFISH corvette and steer the missile behind the ship before closing to attack the enemy's CIWS blind spot, thats something the IR missiles cannot do.

I'm having great good fun with it so far!

With helicopters, my only problem is that they sometimes damage themselves as soon as I give them an attack order or dock with carrier order. They can be far offshore, with no enemies nearby, and as soon as I give the order their HP drops to 15/40 or 17/40. This is happening very consistently.

Aside from this, I have not had any problems with landing, at all.

I find that they are a good way to deploy tracking (laser) missiles.
I mean to hold a few to be ready for my scouts to use.
