Thats the bearing the torpedos will turn to. You have four torpedo pods, two on left, two on right.
That radar screen also shows your heading with a long green line, so you can be sure you won't hit yourself with your own torpedo. As a note the torpedoes go forwards some distance before turning to follow the angle you set, though this won't help if its bent back behind your carrier on the left side from preventing the right side torpedoes from blowing you up or vice versa
That radar screen can be zoomed out, and I can say that torpedoes can hit things on the very edge of its maximum zoom out.
As a note the 'activation distance' I've been told is the time before the guidance on the torpedo activates, I'm not sure exactly how big the cone in front the torpedo is for detecting targets but I haven't had any issues hitting with them unless I made the targets start actively moving, even from the farthest distance. The holoscreen, as well as that radar, can show you your torpedoes in transit. though the holo screen has to be zoomed in quite a bit.
