I havent tried it yet. Does the missile arc like a javelin or is it point to point like an RPG?
The "lock on" works for the AA missiles i think, at least it looked to me that way not 100% sure.
That are the real AA missiles, not the IR missiles fired from the carrier AA launchers... they fire IR missiles.
I mean the AA missiles you can load on planes, so far lock on worked well for me with these ones.
I would just like to say, I play DCS and have an excellent understanding of how " IR " missiles work, however, I dont think thats how they have been implemented in the game.
I am having far higher success rates by tagging targets first than I am blindly firing IR missiles in this game. For me, it feels more like the " IR Missle " is just the standard ATG missile, functioning roughly the same as an Ace Combat missile lol...
Just saying the lock on seem to work as intended on the AA missiles which i guess should be an AIM9 like thingy... but not sure what the IR missiles are supposed to be then.
They do home, you are correct, but its definitely not a " home on heat " function. Its similar to the way the torpedo's are functioning, which is also wrong at the moment.
I suggest pre-tagging enemies purely to increase hit chances and making life easier on the vehicle control panel. A lot of people are complaining about the helicopter AI, yet I have not had an issue as long as I pre-tag enemy units.
The IR missiles really work more like it has GPS guidance or an optical lock. IR really shouldn't guide against vehicles...
Correct, which is why I said its more like the ace combat style lock and shoot missile.
Well I guess i will avoid missile based walrus for now
