whats confusing? they get mounted to airframes or used via the AA launcher (i think?) and you launch them with manual control or the AI does automatically if you tell them to

1. Choose craft with IR missiles
2. via map send craft to attack taggert
3. Connect to craft and choose IR missiles on board
4. Lock taggert by pressing Q
5. Choose manual shooting
6. Shoot

Also note, Helicopters cannot mount Gyro camera's, so you will need to flag all the enemy targets you intend to destroy first using drones/carrier camera, and then you can lock onto enemy craft with the Helicopter mounting IR missiles.

If you're firing them manually, you don't need a lock, or for the target to be already spotted, or to even know a target exists. IR missiles will happily acquire on anything that exists in front of them.

As the above pointed out you will need to have units couted before you can launch them. From the vehicle map it would be clicking your unit then clicking the enemy target and selecting Single or Double missle.

Afaik IR do 3/4qtrs damage to seals so you need a double to finish them off

Just saying, the IR seeker is always active, and will always lock on to heat sources. It does not matter if you ID´ed the enemy units or anything, just fire the rocket in their direction and it will acquire the first target it finds.

If you want to snipe a specific unit, it is better to use laser or tv guided.

So I launched an albatross and created a few waypoints around an island in a circle. I dragged out a line to a seal and set 2 missiles. When I watch through the camera, the missiles always explode in the air above the target. This is the first red island. Are these getting shot down or what else is happening?

If you're shooting 2 at a target at the same time they're slowly getting closer to each other as they get closer to the target, eventually they hit each other before they get there and detonate early.

well, I mean when drawing a line on the target it asked if I wanted to fire 2 missiles or 1.

Ah kewl, i was wondering that myself ... i was not sure what is happening there.

best way to use em in my experience is to place them on vehicles, park them right outside the carrier, and just manually shoot some missiles every now and then. They have the range to hit anything and by staying near the carrier, you can restock them quickly.

also, when using the drones, try to angle their attack path to hit as many targets " in a line " as possible.

I have found if all the targets are roughly within 20 degree axis of the nose cone, you can rapid fire missiles at multiple targets within the axis. If your outside of the axis, the drone needs to adjust and re-confirm the lock.

I have a Walrus setup with a missile launcher. I will lock a target with it and fire an IR missile and sometimes it'll hit a different target. I'm hoping the lock-on feature is just bugged for it. It's really unreliable to hit your target with a ground launched missile.
