10km, says so on its description in the supply menu for ordering it.

radar is also 10km range max, radar is for ground units to equip, awacs is for air units to equip.

Right but for AWACS when I set my manta to patrol it doesnt seem to actually find any ground units

AWACS only detects air and naval units.

Do radars and awacs tag enemies?
Unsure what they do, or how to use them.
BluSpace Aug 12, 2021 @ 10:44pm
Carrier Radar and AWACS will tag Surface Vessels and Aircraft, but not ground units or turrets, out to 10k.
Afaik, the only way to tag ground targets it to manually mark them with a camera from somewhere.
(Anyone know what the recon camera does?)

I'm curious about land vehicle radars. Are they intended to be left on an island so when the AI (or enemy human) carrier arrives, you get some warning?

Right now I've never had to defend my islands as we have sunk the enemy carrier in first contact every time. I guess you could just leave vehicles there if you have the chassis to spare.

you can put a unit with a radar behind the attack force just get the unit to follow from a safe distance or protected by escorts the ground radar is great for airstrikes sorry i do not know what the range is

so if the ship has a 10 km range and the jet radar has 10 km range then if you set up a radar air unit outside your ships radar range you can have a 20 km early warning system??

Well, I think the idea is that you can send it forward to recon for enemy ships and aircraft or set it at a BARCAP station in the direction of an expected threat to see if something is coming from farther out; the latter might be more of a necessity in a PvP situation, as a human player could try to execute a long range strike from quite a distance out.

I think the radar for surface vehicles is precisely for leaving on an island on a seal for detecting attacks on the island. I don't think seals carry enough fuel to bring it outside your carriers radar range anyway, so it seemed completely useless to me until the above post made me think of it.

Yeah, its not so necessary against AI since they make a beeline toward you and leave a trail of island captures where ever they go which you can extrapolate their destination from, but against humans intel from AWACS and island Seals can provide knowledge of where an enemy carrier, and its aircraft, is if spotted and where it isn't if not.
