Barges dont work
After ordering from warehouse stock then dragging the barge to pickup at warehouse. the Barge would just float next to the island without picking anything up.

Barges have been (Once again) reworked. Because a team can have multiple carriers barges no longer take their orders directly from your stock screen but now must also be told which carrier is making the logistics request.

To do this you drag a line from the barges destination at your warehouse to the carrier, the same as you would to give him a resupply order. Once thats done he'll receive the logi list from your carrier and bring the requested materials.

I know this is very silly and in a perfect world games with single carriers would still function the same as before, but coding is hard and playtesting for player comfort and enjoyment is harder so try not to think about it too much : ) I hope this helps!

Lmao what a name
IKR? too many people take it literally I may change it to ANTIFA Supermarine, though I get the sense I'll be taken more seriously. New names are in the works never the less.

Frankly hoping we get a system to automate it but honestly its pretty okay. So does the material request more or less just tell the barges to pick it up and drop it off at one of the carriers, or is the requests material specific so both carriers have to play the logistics game?

The material request tells the barges to check the islands they are connected to and see if they have any of the requested item. If they do, they will then follow the connection and pick up the items. Repeat across the entire network (assuming you have multiple islands connected via the same barge).

Then drop the results off at the carrier, if the barge has a connection there.
Since the last update barges will only receive requests from the next carrier on their logistics route. Say for instance you have a barge that travels to a large munitions small munitions and air chassis plant then to Carrier 1. Even if Carrier 2 has a similar request that barge will never pull equipment for Carrier 2.

Thankfully the devs have given us one barge for each carrier on a team so both carriers can manage their logistics separately. The only aspects shared between carriers are the supplies (That is to say if you tell a factory to build 10 bombs, carrier 1 can pull all 10 and carrier 2 will have to make more). Money is also shared between carriers FYI, so try to be polite.

For any old souls who haven't played in a long time logistics was overhauled ages ago and things cannot be picked up and stored anywhere else. If the material isn't going to the carrier it isn't going anywhere. You have to give barges a destination to drop off or they wont gather anything, this also means you have to make a request at the logistics terminal.

Does this mean warehouses are entirely useless aside from starting gear you get from them? I was trying to set up a logistic network collecting and depositing all resources into a warehouse and it does seem like its not working. Would be nice if we could get a mark to say 'this barge always picks up whatever it gets along its route' or something.
You have hit the nail on the head. Some people have posited that warehouses should be renamed to shipyards since they CAN produce needlefish for you once captured but besides your starting gear they dont actually do anything for you.

For best results I suggest you just stage your barge(s) in the general vicinity of the islands you want to pull from, make your request and send the barge to the carrier then send it back. Repeating barge routes are now a big waste of time.

On one hand its cool that we dont have to faff about with logistics as much as before, on the other hand just because the 300 bombs onboard are no longer needed does not mean I want to throw them overboard : (.

This game is genuinely developed like someones first indie strategy title with little game experience and it baffles me the odd choices devs have made over the past major updates. They've completely revamped logistics for the worse, They've made an entire mechanic obsolete, they've continued to release updates that break fundamental gameplay and in the last year have thrown any semblance of balance out of the window. I understand that CC2 is a backburner game for them in their spare time but still I dont even know how we're supposed to play lol.

Well I won't deny the logistics setup when the game released was... messy to say the least, at the very least I never fully understood it. I think this simplified system can work, if they make it so you can operate it complexly with toggles. Again, like 'barge always collects from factories' toggle for barge routes. I think other than that, It'd be nice if the game specified what ammo is for what specifically. I'm sure its intuitive once you've played the game a little and understand naval weaponry, but I for the life of me never remember which large caliber shell is for the naval gun after a hiatus from playing it. I can 'assume' which one I need easily enough and work towards it, but its no certainty. This is at least unique to the carrier's gun though, because the manual for the missile launcher specifies cruise missiles thankfully.
I have since drilled the requirements for weapons into my head. 160's are for the carrier 120's are for artillery cannons 100's are interchangeable for bear weapons (besides the artillery) 40's for 40's 30's for 30's 20mm for CIWS, and aircraft chain-gun. I agree the game really should offer a tooltip somewhere to tell you how these things are related because until its second nature you'll spend a lot of time ordering random ammo waiting for it to work lol.

Never be afraid to pause and check the wiki in single player and its good etiquette to ask when playing multi-player before you purchase sixteen ground chassis CIWS turrets and clog up the heavy munitions factory with requests for torpedoes. The community is very nice and will tell you anything you need to know.

Mostly useful for making small navy ships, I reckon.
