Any good?
I played the demo ages ago. Has this become more playable now? It seemed ok to me but not worth buying at the time felt a bit clunky.

Oh man I love this game. I play in VR, and the experience is amazing. It's a slow paced game at first, and playing solo requires a few restarts and learning experiences, then a crap-ton of time management, but it's great.

The gameplay has changed quite a bit since then. But I still wouldn't call it polished, bug-free, or streamlined.

Even compared to Carrier Command 1 from 1988, the pacing is terrible, the controls are tedious, different, and partly lacking. The automation and autopilots are poor.
Just like in CC1 the AI only wins, because it cheats a lot.
There is no time compression, which the DOS-Version of CC1 had.
Unlike in CC1, you can't land on the island's airstrip.
Unlike CC1 Airpower is the best way to win the game. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as CC1 Walrusses with lasers were OP. But I wish for a better balance.

You pretty much have to use a combination of mods and custom game mode, to make the game interesting. Speaking of mods: The modding capabilities are mostly cosmetic. You can't readily mod unit/weapon strength values, and most behaviors are not accessible.

The game lacks matchmaking and a public lobby system, but you can host your server (players need the Steam client, the server does not). While you can save a multiplayer game, there is currently no supported way to resume it as a multiplayer game. The net code seems to be wonky. One player with a bad connection can affect everyone.

I still love CC2. It's a great sandbox where you can experiment with daring strategies, the weather and the sea is your enemy and you can have unique multiplayer experiences.

It's neat but way over priced and the devs genuinely don't seem to care about updating it in any meaningful way.

Yes I think I played the demo for a few hours but I didnt feel there was much more to see which is why I didnt buy it. games like that are ok in the days of the Spectrum and Amiga but games have moved on a lot since then, and so have expectations. I did think some of the concepts were quite good but not intriguing enough or complex enough for me to really get into the game. I would probably take a punt at it if it was around £10 but its still over £19 in the Steam Sale. And its getting old now. That's not likely to be value for me I would have to get 40hrs+ of play out of that.

its fun if you have time, i didnt see a game speed up function sadly

this game is a coop/PVP game, if you play it alone you have way more on your hands than you probably signed up for :D
