How do you use virus bots?

Also, why isn't there a proper combat tutorial?

You need to fire them like a weapon to deploy them by either :
1. When setting a waypoint to the command center for virusbot or seal/ walrus bring up the waypoint menu( right click it I think ) and select deploy weapon . Virus bots will be activated once it arrives at waypoint

2. Once near the command center or just on the same as it manually take control of virusbot weapon and fire it yourself,

Virusbot will then make it there themselves

I just drive in between the command center buildings and select it (usually "2"), press "r" to go to manual and press mouse button.

The virus bots have never needed fuel. That’s either a change from a new update which I can’t comment on, a bug your experiencing or a mistake on your part.
Once deployed on the same island as command center the 2 small 4 legged bots will make there way to command center and a blue progress bar will appear beneath.
