Purpose of the escape boat?
After 14hours of gameplay I have noticed that there is a small, escape boat on the carrier left side (deck 6?). You can reach it from the bridge, going down the stairs on the port side.

Is it possible to activate it? How can I do it? I can see there is some working (?) panels inside - one of them displays "deploy carrier" option which is intriguing.

Do you guys have any idea how to launch the boat and what is the game mechanic around it (if any)?

Wild guess.

You can only launch it during the self-destruct countdown.

Nope. Just tried that. It does not work like that or I do not know how to launch the escape boat.

So is it just a "placeholder" for some future game feature?

My friend and I in a coop campaign noticed something interesting about the lifeboat: It has a display panel identical to the one in the landing capsule, without the shield value. Not sure why, but it makes me wonder if it was meant to be launched.

Hmm maybe it's for when PvP multiplayer is added. Like if your carrier gets rekt you can try to escape, but it got descoped for the MVP launch

The lifeboat is absolutely a feature that was either abandoned or not fully implemented in time for release. It has a file that is entirely separate from the carrier, and this file includes information for it's buoyancy and propulsion, as well as control surfaces, lights, buttons, dials, screens, etc. I feel like Microprose forced the devs to quickly and very crudely wrap the game up into a 'releasable' state. The game is very clearly unfinished, not just buggy. There is a lot that is clearly untested, and a lot that feels like it wasn't finished (the mentioned lifeboat, the highly detailed but unused ship interior, 7 player-accessible vehicles which doesnt include battle boats, the poor driving and flying physics, etc.)

It's weird, I loaded into a savefile from a week ago and my lifeboat's mysteriously vanished.

Can you list what those are?

I'm very interested but have no idea how to find them.

I also noticed this pod of a life raft and noticed that It has a interactive screen on the inside but no clue on how to get in. The moment I noticed it is when I was checking out the torpedo launcher to see where they are on the carrier, when I noticed a nose poking out on the left side of the bridge was confused because the way to access it is by going on the platform walkways outside the bridge of the left side of the bridge.

You can't get in it at the moment, it would be awesome if we can, but the Dev is working on Stormworks again ATM, so no idea if any more content will drop for CC2. (I hope it does)

You can't drive the lifeboat, its engine wont power on, but you can launch it via some of the mods in the workshop.

It isn't "finished".

guys maybe it works in multey player when the self disrust happens because there is more then one seat in it. (sorry i can't spell):steamthumbsup:
