defence of friendly islands.
so late game the carrier might take back a capured island. currently i left all islands i captured empty. so does the AI carrier have an easy time capturing bases i already did or what? if there is a defence, any way i can bolster the defence?

To my understanding, there will be no additional defence after conquering an island. None of the destroyed turrets will be rebuild, so it's basically a race of "who's conquering faster" - which is imo a shame, even a rudimentary system which would let you build some turrets would be a nice addition to the game. My hopes are high that we will get something like this soonish.

Best defence is an attack. Destroy enemy carrier and no one will capture you islands. But building your own turrets would be nice idea.

you could leave in theory an unlimited number of ground units on an island, though don't ask me about the performance of that as it will mess with the games optimizations. if you have a straight shot, you could send aircraft with fuel tanks quite far.
if you capture an island without destroying the turrets present on it you will gain control of the turrets and they will in turn attack your enemies. really stupid that you cant just produce/build and place them though.

Base defences/units rebuilt on the original CC (1986) Hopefully the way this game works will change.

For sure there were defence options in the original hopefully it makes it in somehow. Im patient think a few things are on the to do list and thats ok

Not sure about sensor range nd leaving units behind i thought there was a max distance before they went dead but i havent tried. But with all the turrets and gear already in inventory just needs some 'chassis' for a defence building to airlift in maybe.

how build up defence vehicle?

You can build turrets on a captured island using the Vehicle Control screen. Click on an island's Command Center and it will let you build an AA, gun or missle turret on preset locations. Some islands only have 3 locations, some have lots more.

You can leave vehicles behind too but I don't know about fuel usage.

Idling vehicles don't use fuel.
Not sure if this is still an unknown but you can build turrets on islands to defend them from enemy carriers. The AI generally does not render or exist when beyond 40KM from the nearest player observer, this means that if you leave no units or turrets on an island (or barges) the enemy carrier captures your island on a little timer when the AI decides its time.

To avoid this you can build a few turrets to force the AI into a fight. Generally CIWS and IR-missile turrets work best, make sure every turret has at least one CIWS defender as the AI will be incapable of defeating the island defenses with enough DAKA, or at least will be occupied long enough to send a QRF.

On the subject of leaving behind units I recomend leaving behind a seal with a RADAR to spot the enemy carrier from a distance not only forcing it to render and eat up precious time but also spotting it on the map so you can see where it is, where its facing and track its progress.

This thread started back before it was possible to build defensive turrets, for the curious.

Also, shame we are unable to build the potent 40mm Turrets. The IR are good, 30mm are meh, and CIWS are good for their role.
