Help! How do I Dash?

So I unlocked the directional dash ingame and I'm pressing the key for it with it equipped, but nothing is happening. I have no idea how to activate it and I think I need it to get into certain areas. Please help. I'm playing on keyboard.

If you're talking about the "charms" that you put on your mask. (I had the same confusion.) But you have not unlocked the actual dash move yet. Unless you beat the trio boss in that 'Grim' location.
