By "way higher" I comparatively mean in the tens of extra points in early levels.
I am on my 3rd cycle and still loving it. 3 Beatrixes in one squad is nutty, but fun.
I've been distributing the same amount of stat boosts to each Lindly each cycle. So 1st playthrough Lindly gets 5 stat boosts in each stat, 2nd playthrough new Lindly gets 5 and memory Lindly gets 5, etc. There's a **very** clear difference in stat levels between my three Lindlys in my current playthrough. I know units get a certain amount of boost for the number of cycles they've been through, but the effects of the stat boost items are clearly there.
Though, I agree I wish there was more to do with all this power instead of just higher difficulty, but I also figure that that kind of thing is probably being worked on.
Edit: Oh, and to be clear, the other commenter was right in that the stat boosts are distributed throughout the character's progression (Lindly didn't start with bonkers stats, but now at level 40 there is a very noticeable difference)
Thanks, I was dissapointed at first too, but now knowing this, it's cool!
In most games that offer it, I don't see any point in playing new game + since there's 0 challenge and 0 progression. What's the point in just being 100 times as strong as the enemy right from the start? Much more fun to start fresh and try new tactics.
But here there's actually a reason to play it. With the new difficulty options there's lots of ways to keep the challenge decent. And with the memory market you can do all kinds of crazy stuff, but you still have to choose, and you still have progression. You can get a cannon squad or a dragon squad right from the start, but you can't spam the map with 6 of each.
Though ironically the new game + is probably more fun if you do not spend ages grinding in the arena before the final mission, since non-maxed out units are a lot cheaper in memory points, so you can buy more early on. Which is good for me, since I can think of few things more boring than fighting 100 arena battles to gain stat points...
But I suppose those maxed out units will gain more strength in the end, if you care about that sort of thing.
I finished the game, i got what challenge i wanted out of it, now i want to grind my squads into powerhouses, but i dont get that option.
it could have been difficulty option, keep x percantage of stats, we already have option to make squad full of darias if we play 9 times, so why not migrate stats or refund all stat increase items.
We should just rename the mode "custom game". The mistake was just calling it New Game+ which has connotations we're not big enough to fight.
A New Game+ where you retain all your stuff would be so boring, so fast, in the current system you definitely still can keep grinding up and up to make your army insanely powerful
What are memory fragments and what is the memory store? I think i have a vague idea, but if someone can link me to full descriptions = would be appreciated :)
In this game's new game + you do not start with your old units and items. (You only keep trait books and such.)
Instead, there's a new store called "memory" where you can buy your old units and items for a fixed cost in "memory fragments."
You start with 100 or so fragments and get more for each mission and arena you complete.
A typical tier 3 unit might cost 10-11 fragments, a golden one with great traits might cost 15-16, a dragon rider or unique mercenary might cost 25, a named character costs over 50, a Nephelim like Zelos or Diana costs 100. Artifacts likewise range from a few fragments for an arming sword to 50 for a unique legendary.
Memory units level scales to your current mission, and their stats scale to their current level. They also start with "mercenary" loyalty, except the Nephilim clones who have a fixed capacity cost of 15.
Bottom line: In new game+ you can pick and choose from your old stuff, but you can't get all of it back at once.
How do you obtain memory frags? only IN a NG+? or, can I get them in my current (1st) playthru?
Restarting the game for the Xth time, is equally boring. I lost count how many times I have played through, but realizing that "New Game+" is just a reset was very disheartening. I expected everything will carry over and with adjusted lvl or that enemies will scale as well with increased max stats, granting a true "infinit loop", but not a hard reset with a new shop.
Also, the same "fun" reason should apply to a 9x Beatrix group. Why this concidered more fun, than having all units and items from the beginning? I do not think that it is more fun, but the possibility still exists.
We've already discussed that it's literally just the name of the feature. People hear "New Game+" and assume it's a 1 for 1 carry over and you just inflate enemy stats forever. Sounds super boring to me, but all New Game+ features have always been super boring to me as a game player, going all the way back to Chrono Trigger. The reason it even exists in any form is because the community asked for it.
What we have should've just been called "Custom Game". But it's too late to change it now.
it would be nice to have that as option, just like keeping copies of unique characters people dont have to pick it.
