Do you use two monitors or something unique in some other way?
I really appreciate the help by the way.
1am EDIT:
This isn't territory for everyone. There is no one problem and no one path. I can't list the change needed because I don't have the issue on my computer to work with BUT this is what I found from the Dev:
----------------------------------------
We are working on integrating more resolution options into the game.
For now, please find the file called mkxp.conf in your install file. Try winResizable=true among other settings. Some folks also like integerScaling.lastMileScaling = false
------------
also
------------
Find mkxp.conf in your install directory, and change winResizable=true to false. Play around with sizes and other settings to see if anything is to your liking.
------------
also
------------
Try several things
Press F5
Change window size
Press Alt-enter
-------------
That's it for Dev input on the subject but there's a lot more that can be poked in the mkxp.config file. Below I've listed some other parts that could be tweaked depending on your exact issue. There are more besides what I have listed but before going deeper it would be worth poking what's here first.
END EDIT.....
ORIGINAL POST
I have found the file. It's a text file that can be opened with Notepad. It's found at what ever drive you keep your Steam folder on (C drive by default). Then:
Steam> Steamapps> common> Sow1 Project.
Once you've clicked on that SoW1 Project folder click on the mkxp.config file. You will be prompted for what app you want to use to open it. Notepad works.
There are a lot of settings that can be tweaked here. I didn't have time to run down someone else's exact fix and it might not have applied to you anyway. You can mess with these settings without being a programmer. Just remember or copy what is there in case you need to switch it all back. (I'd just make a copy of that file and put it in a temp folder so you could replace it without having to verify files if something gets borked).
I am rushed atm so I couldn't look through the whole file.
Scroll down and find the text that says this (near the top):
----------------------------------------------------------------
# Specify the RGSS version to run under.
# Possible values are 0, 1, 2, 3. If set to 0,
# mkxp will try to guess the required version
# based on the game files found in gameFolder.
# If this fails, the version defaults to 1.
# (default: 0)
#
# rgssVersion=1
------------------------------------------------
You might try changing this setting between 0-3 but remember what was originally listed
------------------------------------------------
Also scroll further down and look for these:
----------------------------------------------
# Preserve game screen aspect ratio,
# as opposed to stretch-to-fill
# (default: enabled)
#
fixedAspectRatio=true
# Apply linear interpolation when game screen
# is upscaled
# (default: enabled)
#
smoothScaling=true
---------------------------------
I am wondering about the above settings. Might be worth seeing what happens if you adjust them. Also the settings below but since your issue is blurriness I don't think the issue is resolution window sizing so much as one of the settings above. Forcing different screen size at these settings below combined with tweaking the above settings would be another, more complicated tweak. We are hoping one of the earlier places to tweak would get it done.
---------------------------------
# Specify the window width on startup. If set to 0,
# it will default to the default resolution width
# specific to the RGSS version (640 in RGSS1, 544
# in RGSS2 or higher).
# (default: 0)
#
defScreenW=640
# Specify the window height on startup. If set to 0,
# it will default to the default resolution height
# specific to the RGSS version (480 in RGSS1, 416
# in RGSS2 or higher).
# (default: 0)
#
defScreenH=480
------------------------------------
There are a lot more commands further down. I'll look for any that might be applicable
--EDIT if you determinedly got this far and tried some things and are still no joy let me know and I'll look at the rest of the file but this post is so disorganized and backwards I won't make it worse unless necessary--
Let me know if you make any progress and I'll go from there.
I have been through the config file and tried changing a load of stuff but nothing seems to make any difference. This get's me thinking that it's something to do with our actual computers. Some setup, some app running in the background, some setting some of us have. Finding that is going to take a small miracle especially if the dev's can't reproduce the problem.
Funny that. Turn the sharpness DOWN for a sharper picture.
For anyone having issues I would suggest exhausting the possibilities in the mkxp.config first as well as posting your dxdiag specs and the problem to the Devs in case they can find something.
