How are the war cats?
So, I'm playing through a normal game on warlord and I got a bunch of war cats for Stefan and Rashkuja's squad. They seem to hit pretty hard.

At the start of the game they were very tanky for light units, but now around mission 10 they are starting to take more damage. Still doing pretty okay.

Upgrading them to Behemoth also seems quite hard, as they need 2 stats at 60. (Dragons only need 1 around that level.) But they don't require any resources which seems useful.

So how are you guys finding them compared to other light infantry types? And how good are the behemoths, for those who already managed to get any?

Havent really used them. From what I gather the cats can ignore ranks like the female swordsmen and they have an attack that hits the entire line. So they'd serve well in a glass cannon type squad.

The Rank 1 cats still take too much damage compared to my regular rogues / rangers. hope once i upgrade them to Rank 2 Golds they can tank for my Ambush Squads..

I put it with Diana. They both deal splash damages. Add a healer too. And the rest any unit you like. Man, they kill stuff while also tanky XD. I did add a trait "healing attuned" on both the cat and Diana though.

That's a decent one there is another one as well that means anytime anyone in there unit is healed they get a small amount of healing as well

I'm still relatively early game and only had enough money for either a dragon or a cat on the opportunity to buy either so I went with a dragon. Got cash burning a hole in my pocket so I should be able to grab a cat soon. They should definitely fill the dragon shaped hole in my light units.

Kittens are awesome, they have guile on high ground, attack up walls, and are light archetype; they also dish quite a bit of pain if you pet them wrong, Kitty has claws

Light infantry on crack cocaine:

1. Give two to Raskuja or Narima if you don't keep her as a light ranged/melee hybrid squad,
2. Add a centurion or a samurai for dat polearm buff
3. ???

Give them the crit ignores armour perk and the extra crit based on hit chance perk (or the crit dmg one). My kitties crit heavy infantry for 350.

I got lucky and I could buy a cat on the first mission with a Bazaar and then a second in the mission straight after... spruced up with some armor pen or straight up damage artifacts and I built a unit around them with 3 of them + a Ranger (with both thief and treasure hunter) I found somewhere... that squad basically just eats everything and at night they deal scary amounts of damage and brings in crazy amounts of loot

So I finally got a behemoth, but honestly it doesn't feel very different to the base cat?

Stats are only marginally better, and the attack seems very similar. Description states it gets an advantage when attacking from high ground, but that basically never happens so it doesn't seem very relevant.

More stats is nice of course, but considering the huge requirements for the upgrade I had expected something more.

Anyone noticed anything else about the behemoth's attacks? Does it deal more base damage than the normal cat's? And do people actually manage to attack from high ground with them? That only refers to being on walls, right?

Light units definitely better endgame, as they can fit in a heavy/healer/mage squad for maximum lethality with staggered volleys.

But cats come online quicker due to the lower loyalty cost of 3 cats than 6 normal units.

behemoth, the rank 2, is pretty good. it's decently tanky and hits hard with it's cleave. rank 1 cats are kind of mid, compared to when you'd wanna use them and their availability.
