I used fantasy medieval, not just medieval. Plus using "touche" and other modern lingo just sounds very bad and cringy even for the modern era and isn't very immersive lore wise in the game. Just giving you feedback man. The game so far is very fun.
I just feel the dialogue could be more creative in regards to the world. It would be weird if Gandalf or an Elf from DnD talked like a standard NYC American.
Cut scenes have a chibi rpg maker quality to them yet the characters portraits are ugly 3d portraits out of a western rpg.
The Maps and Battles all look great though.
There is a tutorial section that gives a pretty quick rundown of every generic class.
It was more apparent with Beatrix is when I notice it a lot. And by fantasy medieval instead of saying "Damn it" they can say "Havoc all" or something like that with metaphors and lingo for their world instead of modern ones. I wasn't talking about using old speech though. Instead of "bull turd", "chimera turd" etc. I won't be as creative as you since I don't know what the game world has. It's just some of the vernacular and slang could be more fleshed out like in other fantasy works.
It's just kinda disjointing seeing "touche" and other modern jargon used and maybe using medieval era lingo might work out.
I just can't disagree strongly enough. Havoc all? Bull turd? That's just your specific ideas for how you would create a fictional universe. By all means, do that.
In my fictional universe, some people speak with "Modern American" vernacular, because that's what I am, and that's what I write best. But that's just a baseline. There's so many different dialects and accents. Not to mention that the main organized religion has been very strongly engrained into the world's culture. Everyone says "By Donar" even if they aren't a devout believer.
There prob isn't much I can say to justify it that you haven't already heard. Still nice of you to reply and engage with the community though. Its just my opinion so don't take it too personally. JRPGs typically have some cringe in them.
I am literally only complaining because I like the game so much, if I didn't I wouldn't even post here.
Of course. Again, I am not personally offended. I am disagreeing with you in the coldest and most objective possible terms.
