Story characters and proof of merit

I can't find any list of story class upgrades, just an occasional mention here and there.

A dev post says they wouldn't let you use the proof of merit if there was a class upgrade, but I can currently use it in chapter 10 on Narima and I read a random post saying she gets an upgrade later.

Also have Barnabas goldable and it sounds like he doesn't have one, but people also say you can change his class and it's unchangable for me so maybe he's been given one since then?

Anyone have a list of the characters that get a new class for my own peace of mind while using proof of merits?

I wonder if perhaps Narima would remain gilded even if she upgraded later? Same for Barnabas if you switch classes.

What normally happens if you gild someone and then swap their class? Can you try that out for me now with save+reload?

edit: well with your reply I guess its better to hold onto the merits but I'm sure someone knows the answer for current version of the game.
Jules is semi-flexible since he can be a Warbow or Raider, at least in my game but I'm sure everyone knows that.

Proof of merit locks your class so you can't change it after.

As for story changes, in theory based on that dev post if there's a story class change later it won't let you use the proof of merit(and I can't use it on my hero despite having maxed cp so there's some truth to that at least) but since I can gold Narima unless the person that said she had a class change later was mistaken it seems it's not always true anymore which is why I'm asking.

And like I said, people mention changing Barnabas in posts from back in June, but he's unchangeable now, at least for me so either my game is bugged or they locked him for some reason making me suspect he might have a story class change. But I don't know.

I'm pretty sure the only three who get class changes are MC, Diana, Stefan. Others have unique classes but they don't change. I don't believe Narima or Beatrix *change* classes.

Narima does not have a class change, you should be able Proof of Merit on her immediately, but I don't honestly recall - she doesn't have a class change but she does leave the party for a bit with most other characters mid-game, so you may just not be able to use it on her until she rejoins with everybody else.

Your MC, Sybil, Diana, and Stefan are the ones with story related class changes.

You can gild Sybil into being something other than a paladin, but I don't know if that will still allow her to story change to a paladin later. It's definitely an option before that part of the story, though.
