Trait - Treasure Hunter
New player here so trying to figure out how this works. According to the guide section it is a good source of farming arena tokens/artifacts etc. I gave my main character the trait via a book I purchased from a bazaar. Since then I have been trying to get it to proc in arena matches. After killing about a hundred squads with MC unit & forcing 50+ to surrender it has proc'd a whopping 0 times.

So what am I doing wrong here? Is the proc chance just abysmal or am I executing something wrong?

The bonus from Treasure Hunters is very small, seemingly smaller than RNG. After having it on Stefan for quite some time, and focusing on giving him the kill each time he acted to ensure the chance of drops, almost everybody else was getting drops while he wasn't. I also equipped fixed dice and that seems to have made a bigger difference.

As is, its performance seems severely lackluster. I can't tell if its a bonus or a penalty, which means its not really worth having as is. Better than nothing is honestly questionable, as it does seem to be detrimental and not beneficial. The RNG is invisible so its effectively impossible to tell if its just coincidence that drops decreased upon getting it.

I never really saw it doing work either. Like I had one squad with it as well as the item that doubles drop rates, but squads with neither would beat a squad up and get an item but the Treasure Hunter squad wouldn't.

Just kinda felt like it became an army-wide buff honestly.

That's pretty insightful. I did kinda feel like I was getting more items on other characters than I normally would. I had thought Lady Luck was just taunting me by giving all my other characters items.

If it was army wide, that would make more sense and actually make it decent.

Appreciate the replies. Its interesting Isharis that you mention it might actually reduce drop rates instead of increase because I came across something that leads me to believe it might.

As new player when I tried attaching an extra archer to Jules but I was unable to for capacity reasons. Now his leader ability Archer Captain I think its called is supposed to reduce capacity of archer units by -2. However when you attempt to add extra archer units the cost says 10 (+2). Meaning instead of needing 8 capacity you need 12 to add an extra archer. That doesn't seem right to me.

If this is the case its plausible some of the leader abilities are actually doing the opposite of what they are intended to.

That's different. The (+2) indicates that you have enough troops in the squad that adding a new one will cost 2 capacity more than usual. The next one will be (+4), one after that (+6) and so on.

Could be broken, even if it wasn't it would still be the most worthless trait to have imo

Have you met my boy Folc? https://i.imgur.com/OrT8Czz.jpg

The potential of Treasure Hunter is to get arena tokens, which is essentially free exp, cp, and several good items.
I did also get a jade figurine as a random drop out of nowhere. Not on the squad with the trait, mind you.

The problem is you're going to level anyway unless you want to level more squads than necessary and you're likely better off just using better traits. Even min/maxing, if you REALLY want something you can just reload your last save with the dialogue and the store will completely reroll and you can keep doing that until you get what you want. I didn't tell you that you could do this, it was someone else :)

I'm well aware, but I'm pretty sure besides set treasure chest drops, arena is the only way to get proof of merits.

They are legendary items, and can sometimes appear in the normal Marketplace with the gold lettering of their name. They are sold for 2500 gold, which is a steal!

Huh. I can't believe there's still something left in the normal market I haven't seen yet. Especially considering I went through the end-game market several times with a load of gold just to see if there was anything.

Incidentally, while we're talking about it, can dragons show up outside of bazaars?
Never seen that either but the tech upgrade sort of implies it can. Unless by slight chance it means the bazaar which I've never not seen a dragon in.

I haven't seen Dragons in the Marketplace even once. That doesn't mean they can't appear, just means I can't really confirm it. It's possible they do or don't.

For what its worth, it seems like Legendary items are unique, and once they appear once they never appear again. The trait scroll for Silver Tongued and the Proof of Merit are not unique and have appear for me multiple times. Ironically, there is an item called Belinda's Field Kit that is only rare, but i've only ever gotten it once. Might be unique or just RNG never let it show up again. Ironically I have like 6 everlasting potions. They never appeared for the longest time and then it was like, 2 potions appeared in a shop and another 2 dropped then 2 in chests all in a short span.

I bought a dragon from the marketplace they do appear there and I believe it's even on the tech tree that says they do

Yea, I think you can find dragons at the uncommon tier of troops.
I have no idea if Treasure Hunter works properly. I was getting items before I even knew about the trait and after getting it I didn't see an increase of items or rarity at any point.
