Should I let Zelos join the fight when beginning?

I just starting to play the game , I found out Zelos are overpower compare to others teammate , should I let him stay behind to let others ppl take the leveling?

I use him the least as possible. You will soon learn the plot reasons.

The main issue is you don't have him for that long, and he's over level so he doesn't gain exp for the first few chapters. You lose him before he is level appropriate, so any exp he gains is effectively wasted exp.

Keep in mind, however, that exp in SoW is NOT zero sum. You don't only get exp for killing units, you can also get exp just for fighting units.

I would and still did use him as an archer unit. He can soften up targets some so that your other units can come finish them off and get exp easier. I would avoid using him as a front line unit, as he'll probably wreck a unit and waste that exp.

Ultimately its not that big of a deal, however. In many other games like this, the exp value of defeating units is static. In this game, however, if you're a little under level you gain more exp for fighting higher level units, so you'll reach equilibrium easy enough. Unless you have a lot more squads than you can deploy and you are rotating them, your main squads will keep up just fine.

A 1-2 Zelos and Jules combo can work pretty well with Bowman. Zelos weakens them and then Jules rolls in to finish them off.

What folks don't remember is that these are squads, not individuals - so even though Zelos is capped out in Chapter 1, you can still level up the 2 archers he starts with, and anyone you add to his squad before Chapter 2

That's certain true, but you also gain leadership from battles. So if Zelos wrecks an entire squad in 1 battle that's a chance for another leader to have gained leadership that is missed. Which is why I think its fine to use him, as long as you aren't wiping the entire squad with him. At least, it turned out fine for me doing it that way.

Definitely agree on the aspect of leveling up his troops though. Of course, I think you lose all of those troops when he leaves, don't you? I haven't gotten him back, but i'm assuming if/when he does return, those troops with him will be higher level?

I assume that it's the same as with others who leave. They were the same lvl as they left. I foolishly emptied their squads, since I was afraid of loosing the units and was laughing my ass off when I got the same empty squads back near some enemies.

There is literally one unit in the game you permanently lose and the troops included in Zelos's squad ain't that one

I used to avoid using him because of some wasted experience, but do generally use him these days to help level other units with him... especially the weaker ones that can be hard to do elsewhere. I don't use him for capturing objectives, though, as leveling the leadership on unit leaders is important, and that is wasted on him. Though others in the unit get some leadership and loyalty as well, I usually wait until a bit later after he leaves

I just add a third bowman in with a diamond formation (Zelos, two bowmen, one bowman) and use them as a secondary archer squad that doesn't have to be babied quite as much. Zelos tends to cut squads down too quickly when you let him fight much, but on the other hand having him in there vastly increases the threat rating of the squad and causes everyone to attack Sybil or Barnabas instead.

Thanks for the answering, I realise it is difficult to get S if dint use Zelos , so i have to use him limited to get better rewards

In regards of long the campaign is, it hardly makes a difference, if you use him or not. His 'stealing' will have miniscule effect on the whole progress, I would say.
