Hahaha
Too bad, the H scenes in SR are mostly funny instead of hot
But, as I can see, it's quite different :(
Ended up playing it and its still a cute fun game but not a masterpiece like SR which had me playing it like it was my full time job haha
The game borrows concepts from "Soul Nomad and the World Eaters" (go play that game it's really good). You can manually create your squad formation which is never a bad thing.
It also may borrow the unit upgrading bit from games like "Kingdom Under Fire". Both are really great games in my opinion. The Kingdom Under Fire series is pretty much dead, though I heard there was an MMO game on Playstation. Soul Nomad is now on Steam which I am thankful for.
Unfortunately it looks like this game is super, super linear. You will not have anywhere as much freedom as you would in Sengoku Rance, influencing who goes to war and who you recruit and what route you go on, etc.
Also, you don't control each character's actions in battle, you only set up the squad, maybe set a particular strategy when attacking, and hope they do the right thing.
I have not completed the game yet but AFAIK there are no unlockables, no Clear Data with starting options, or anything like that.
On the plus side, there is a bit more positioning strategy, since there is a tactical map instead of just countries lobbing armies at each others' heads.
It's sad but there will never again be a game as awesome as Rance VII. It is literally the best game ever made.
