Using Siege Cannons
I've been playing through this game a lot. There are a number of things I dislike. However, the unit customization makes me keep coming back. Which is why I ask this question.

Who has used Siege Cannons? I liked the idea of them. I like using artillery units. The game says they can attack up to 3 tiles away. And when I finally used them.... they only had a range of 2 on the field. This happen to anyone else?

I've had the same result with them. They hit like a ton of bricks, so I still think they're worthwhile. But I'm not sure if it's a typo or if there is something we're missing about their stated range.

Pretty sure the three range is that it's including the tech (dual capstone of the far right and far left tree) that increases their range by one.

+1 range in the tech tree

I do see the tech tree upgrade. I'm just waiting for my tech points. As soon as that tier opened up the game stopped giving me points.

It has to be a typo on the unit then. As it's default is range 2, and has the chance to be 3.

Even without the extra range they are really good. I managed to scrap together enough materials to roll five of them, with Dianna and the Main Hero's Squad to guard them. Enough cannons will one shot anything except for the end tier shield unit.

Agreed. I'm going to keep them around for now just because I wanted to try them out. Not sure if they'll fit great in my army in the long run (I have a triple dragon squad, all horse archer squad, and working on an all Hussar squad, plus the unstoppable force of Diana.) but worth messing with for a small time.

Cannons are busted lol. Even just having one in a squad deals heavy damage from a safe distance. I honestly think they need to be nerfed.

Get a whole squad of firearm troops and cannons and you can walk through the enemy with ease.

There's one mission in the game with an enemy army of cannons. MANY many cannons.

It's as bad as it sounds. Even the characters themselves talk like it's their final fight. The objective implies you CAN beat them (it's stated as an option). But I'm damend if I can figure out how. Anyone managed that yet?

I've seen a post from the dev stating it has been done before, but I've never attempted it myself.

You're talking about Mission 12 right? There is a thread elsewhere that people talked about beating it. I didn't really bother.

To beat cannons is easy. Just prioritize attacking them over the firearm units. Cannons do tons of damage, but only if they are the attackers. They can't fire if they are the defenders. Best way to do that is to use a mixed unit of Stealth and Ranged units. The Stealth units will attack the Cannons on the first turn (since the AI has them on the back row) and the Ranged units can potentially also attack them. This has a decent chance of wiping out the Cannons on the first attack, with the Ranged units then being able to follow up and potentially wipe out the still surviving ones on the second attack (assuming they are Archers and not Firearm units)
