Leadership and how to gain it fast?
I did a search for this topic and came across alot of people who had opinions on how to raise it, but mostly everyone appeared to be guessing, or assuming.

Obviously there is medals of honor, but what other actions raise leadership exactly?
It does seem as though capturing objectives sometimes raises it, but is this the best way?

I saw someone mention that getting attacked was the best way to raise it, but by that logic, Diana should have insane leadership, since she's always getting hit in my campaign, but her leadership is just barely enough to field 6 loyal units. Sitting at 63 by chapter 20.

In general, I'm really struggling with leadership, having most of my squads just barely at 5 members, with just a few that can go to 6, and Lysander who can go to 7. What are some good ways to raise leadership? I'm at a loss...

If you can field units into Barnabas's squad, have an archer squad attack you, sit there and take abuse, they'll gain LDR very quickly. But what specifically affects that growth, I couldn't tell you. There is no exp bar for LDR and I can't recall anything in the in game guide that tells you.

That sounds strange.. barnabas may have mentorship, but his leadership isn't that high... as of Chapter 8 his leadership is only 50, which only trains people up to 40 LDR, which is not enough...

By chapter 20 he has 60, which again just allows him to train people up to 50... which barely lets you bring a squad of 5...

Take the perk that allows LDR growth for non-leaders during combat. It costs 1 scroll.
Use Medal of Valor on units. 1.02 increases the bonus to +3 if very low.
Have specific units capture objectives for that +1 leadership.
Switch low LDR units to Light Element. 1.02 allows you to get more Light-change items.
Once all that is done, equip +Cap items.
Check your troops carefully, some of them might have the "X Captain" trait which reduces cost by 2 for that specific troop. I've missed them sometimes by being inattentive.

I feel much of your issues will be fixed with the next release.

Oh also, Mercenaries as party leaders cost 10 Cap not 12. Use mercs to lead your troops if possible.

Also, unique characters (like Diana of Stefan) don't have a normal leadership gain rate like troops do. Each character has their own specific leadership growth rate. That's why Barnabas gains leadership so slowly compared to other units.

In terms of filling out your squads, also keep in mind that the more a unit is used in combat (either attacking or defending) the better their loyalty will become. Maxing out their loyalty actually gives that specific unit a -2 Capacity cost, so troops can go from 10 per unit to 8 per unit (and Mercenaries can go from 12 all the way down to 8, but takes a lot longer). The reduction adds up across the squad and doesn't require the leader to have high Leadership.
