What are some fun builds you've made?
So, I just won my first successful run, I tried a few builds that involve psi powers but ended up losing early on due to not having a reliable auto attack (And spawning too many voidlings when my void power grew too high). I then tried a heavy melee build which worked very well.

Force Psyker - Helped a ton, I rushed maxing it first in order to be able to wield a heavy melee and shield at the same time, ended up taking most of the perks as they all worked well in my build.
Barbarian - all good abilities that I used pretty frequently
Smashmaster - I stuck with heavy hammers so this fit in well for passive boosts
Bodybuilding - also more passive boosts
Soldier - I only really got this for the stat bonuses, the only time I actually used its abilities was on the boss that keeps shifting resistances.
Shield bearer - to boost my shield/block, didn't use the active abilities too much as it was faster to just kill stuff. The passive skills were great though.
Loot Hunter - just to boost my loot quality, upgraded this last as I didn't know how many skill points I would get in a run. Probably should have boosted it earlier for better loot drops.

By the end of the run I had maxed out all skills, and was able to just wade through pretty much everything. I also found a shield that gave me over 320 shield points so that was almost always up plus loads of health.

The only boss that gave me trouble was the final one that adapts its resistances. I only had a hammer as my weapon, so I ended up killing it by spamming different grenades at it and using soldier abilities to whittle down its health. Other than that everyhting else was pretty easy. Granted, this was just a Standard difficulty run.

I do still want to try a psi focused build, or perhaps a summon one. Any recommendations?

An op Psy build :
Void Psy
Force Psy
Hacker
Dual ranged
Combo
Elementalist
Psykonics

I must admit that the combo build is one of the most retarded builds ever. With 2 ranged weapons with dual wield, I was alternating Wrath /Virus or Void ability. The 5 level buff gives you 80% dmg....5 combo points another 80%. Once you maxed both Psykers and combo, and you start getting hacker, the trolling begins. Fun compared to melee

This is one of those games where you have false feeling of making what you want, but there are just few builds which are viable with high survivability.

Thank you so much for this one, I´m already in level 6 and (so far) it´s like breeze.

My summoner build:

Engineer (For Bots)
Space Pirate (For Bots)
Soldier (For grenades and missiles)
Pistoler (Specialize pistol [Crackshot and Fan the hammer] - Used a shield as well)
Security (Unlocking and collecting bobby traps that stun)
Rouge Modder (Modding gear)
*Loot Hunter (higher possible chance for more/better loot)

In addition, I used all the gear I could find that gave various summons.

Finished the game on Standard with this build.

*Loot hunter is not required - especially if you already have a good stash in you chest.

The default Spacepirate build is literally OP. The loot exploit alone gets you every uniq in the game, if you have the aptitude and patience.

e.g.
Space Pirate : Rank 1 + Sealed Fate (Perk)
Loot Hunter : Rank 5 + Uncanny Luck + Big Loot Hunter

Get "Jablonskis Helmet" from one of the Bonus Contracts in Level 1. Start calling "Guards! Guards!" every 40 turns. Using Daring Maneuver on them to keep you "Tempt Fate" at 15. (+377 Loot find)

Every now and then BIg Loot Hunter will trigger, upping this to + 1100 loot find or some crazy number. Get all the good stuff on this level. Move on. Rinse & repeat.

Add
Gunslinger and later Pistolier to the mix, for instant shots and free attacks.

But "Daring Maneuver" is really your one trick pony here. IF there is more then 1 enemy just use "Gun Fu Master". It's a kill-all switch, basically.

It attacks 3 times (1 main, 2 off-hand) The second offhand has a 15% chance to hit for 434% extra damage. Combine that with a critical hit and "The black spot" (Space pirate skill) and that lets you dish out Damage in the 500s up to a few 1000s per round. The final boss still takes a while, though.

You can furhter increase that with crafting two nice uniq pistols togehter for more bullet damage.

Otherwise "Bullet Farmer" and "Acrobatics" are nice, for free ammo and the "panic button" jump back 2 squares in case things go sour. Most enemies don't live to see turn 2 in an encounter, though.
