SMB4 can be a very strategic game so ill try to go over some of the strategies I use without getting into to much detail with specific ones.
1. Know your batter and pitchers strengths.
2. Don't be greedy: Don't always try to steal..don't always dive for a ball. Use your cutoff man.
3. Pitching - find the pitches that are working and notice which pitches the batters have trouble making contact with.
4. Load your team with contact hitters if you tend to strike out.
5. Pitching - I usually try to get 1 or 2 quick strikes by throw near the corners. Once, you have two strikes, the computer will tend to swing more outside the strike zone.
6. Hitting- I will sit on certain pitches. Take the time to look at your opponents pitcher. Does he have a lot of off speed pitches or does he/she like to throw fast. Don't swing at everything because the more pitches you see, the more you find a certain pitch that you will like and hit. This also drives up the pitch count and will tire out the pitcher making it easier for you in the long run.
7. Play full games and don't quit. I truly believe that when we struggle and continue on, we will improve. If I did not have this mind set, I would not be playing at ego mid 80s and consistently winning.
There is much more I could talk about, but this is enough for anyone to start seeing improvement. Good luck
