Gingerbread axe

To craft a gingerbread axe I have to collect 5 wood, which are only cutable with a gingerbread axe. My axe is broken and I don`t have enough wood. Is this game over for me?

Nope! You can also harvest gingerbread trees with your bare hands. You can do that by finding your active tool in your inventory and clicking the "Unequip" button. Or you can use the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. A mouse scrollwheel will cycle the active tools, or you can click the tool icon in the toolbar to cycle through the tools until you get to the hand. Hope that helps!
