Keeps crashing when I try to edit hair texture
Okay, ngl I'm at my wits end and could really use some help figuring out the issue ;w;

Whenever I try to edit a model's hair texture, Vroid keeps either crashing or literally locking up my PC to to the point I have to unplug it or hold the power button to shut it off and I honestly don't know what the issue is when I've edited hair textures in the past with no issues, so I don't know what the problem is now.

I'm having similar issues when editing a hairstyle. The program goes into Not Responding whenever I click something; a layer, a piece of hair, or a tool. I've even deleted groups of hair to reduce the load because I had not experienced this lag previously, but it's been a few updates since I've edited hair so not sure if that has something to do with it.
I am wondering if there is anything I can do to reduce the occurrence of this issue.

Oh gosh, that sounds painful to deal with!

I'm not sure if it's the same for you, but thanks to asking a friend of mine to see if the same issue I am dealing with happens to her, I've roughly narrowed the possible issues to ones with my computer specifically or just my copy of Vroid cause she was able to pull open the hair editor without any issues.

I'm wondering if I've possibly got out of date drivers or some sort of script vroid runs on not being up to date, cause honestly I don't know what else could be the possible problem, so maybe that could be the issue for you?
Same here. Crashes when i try to use the hair editor.

I find that the hair textures seem to duplicate every time you save edit to the hair and then re-enter. I went in and set the hair to use 1 texture (or if you have multiple textures, then your originals.) and not the duplicates that it created.

I think it creates 1 copy per hair set (Front, back, ect.) Best thing you could do is to delete the inactive duplicate hair textures.
As far as I know, the duplicated hair textures VRoid makes really slows it down over time. So you may want to check if your textures/ materials are being duplicated by the hair editor. I could be wrong though.

I was wondering where all those hair materials came from. I'll start going through those too.

I have narrowed the "Not responding" issue down to when I switch tools or first click a hair group so I've been able to work around it by working with a tool or section at a time. It still happens but I was able to create a new hairstyle at least without too much lag time.
The exact reason the materials come up for multiple hairs because if say you have a back hair on, yet don't edit it, the program makes a new material for every hair upon loading that set in the selection menu. Regardless if you're making edits to that.

Go to the Presets and set the hair to the blank one temporarily and delete the material that showed up when your back hair was equipped. You can reequip it later without issue.
Like if I only have the front hair that I will edit, remove your other hairs, clear the inactive materials, you'll be fine as the program creates them on load.
