AMPLITUDE Studios implemented their own solution, so it is cross-play compatible.
You find the setting in game -> Options -> Network -> Remote Storage
Once your devices which are supposed to synchronise have a savegame, the game will try to match it. Beware: it will always synchronise to the latest savegame.
So best you start the game in offline mode on Steam Deck. Make a save.
Then continue on PC, make a save. So when you go back to Steam Deck it will take the latest = PC one, instead of overwriting the PC one with the Steam Deck (fresh) one.
Baldur's Gate 3 is sort of a pioneer in that thing with years of experience from cross-platform games. But then that game is to be considered on a different scale altogether.
