I liked Dungeon fo the Endless very much too, and I was very sad that it did not get enough and attention it deserved.
To me it still feels like that, despite the additional twin-stick shooter mechanic. It just might feel different at certain occassions aka boss fights. You still have a tower defense game, but the focus changes a little.
thanks for your answer
i guess we share the same feeling
i would gladly try the game but i feel like the magic disappeared a bit :(
thanks you for your valuable input
you can still have tons of fun in the old game
maybe i will just do like you and do some runs of the older game too.
You are not wrong. But I think it is mainly because of the presentation. I felt similar for Sanctum 2 considering I love Sanctum. But nonetheless that and this are still good games.
The challenge is still there and the tower defense aspect still feels good as I remember.
But I cannot deny the impression of the "different" "magic" vibe. It is no longer a pixel art game and overall looking a tad goofy. But it has its own charm and I am not disliking it. ^^

thanks for nuancing your thoughts ;
but i'm not sure i am ready to give up on the tower defense mechanics in favor of more actiony gameplay
no automatic play for my unit is a big turn off, i want to manage tower, not shooting at stuff lol
As a sequel to that game, it couldnt have been worse. Remember all those intriguing, original characters who knew each other and had interesting biographies? You wont find a single one here. They were replaced by stereotypical shells with zero character.
Do you remember this extremely original gameplay? Here it was replaced by the standard twinstick shooter gameplay, which would have been outdated even 10 years ago, because there were better games of this type already then.
And all the ideas that were used from the original game simply dont work here - the turrets are useless, opening the doors is boring (because you wont find anything behind them anyway), the fights are too (because you have to shoot the same creatures over and over again with the same weapon. its boring after an hour), and the escort of this robot is frustrating.
This game is not only a terrible sequel to Dungeon of Endless, but one of the dullest, most stereotypical twinstick shooters I know. Even Serius Sam is better, not to mention Nucler Throne, Hodes, Gungeon and Isaac, compared to which this game is literally garbage.
Ps. The turrets in this game are a help to the player, but ultimately you have to do everything yourself. Even on very easy, after building the entire room, they cant even stop the wave on the first levels. They are so useless its frustrating. After defeating the first boss, they become useless baits that stop the monsters for a while while you have to kill them all.
hey thanks you
i'm usually the kind of people that don't buy other people words
but for this one i think i can trust you
i feel like what you're explaining comes from your gut
i will then skip that game
i still wish success to amplitude, they just changed their target audience.
You know that, and I know that. Let them be. If threadstarter is content with the answer, let them be. Sometimes people just see what they want to see.
I think some more support / small resource nodes would also help round out maps where you don't find generators for awhile. You can't put a hero with high wit on a large node anymore, and there isn't that "operator" small node thing either (sorry I forget the exact name).
Lastly, I wish you could build a massive siege cannon or something cool defensively on large nodes. It would need to be strong because you are sacrificing a resource for it.
