Quest 3 Mixed Reality
Will it be possible to use the mixed reality of the Quest 3 with the steam version? If you had to buy the game again specifically for the quest it would be really bad, since I play with my son, that would mean buying a new one twice and I will definitely not accept that.

Looking for an answer to this as well. I just ordered my Quest 3 and I was going to get the latest Humble VR bundle before it expires if I can take advantage of mixed reality with this game.

They did showcase the game going to have mixed reality. But i have not seen one for Steam, so it might be limited to quest store users. But i have heard that playing the mixed reality, will consume more battery power.

Steam does not seem to support the mixed reality

Very unfortunate. I hear good things about the Mixed Reality mode.

Has anyone confirmed? Because I have the Steam version and I now own a Quest 3. But I have not tried it on PCVR yet.

Mixed Reality is a banger, i bought the PC VR and PC version... i would be pretty bummed if we were locked out of MR....

They talk about their updates and bringing the game to all platforms, but when it comes to show how serious they are, they act like they don't care. Where is the mixed reality update for Steam? Bad show.

I'm not able to launch the game to play on my q3. Just crashes on launch. Will try to troubleshoot a bit later.

Bump. Wish devs were not just catering MR to Meta stand alone. Such a waste.

Got a Quest 3 and interested in the game. I would prefer to buy it on Steam than Oculus so if it has MR through Steam...amazing.

Sorry for the wait. I got so sidetracked as this was my first step into VR and was having so much fun exploring/playing games that I really didn't want to troubleshoot something.

Anyways, I was able to launch/play Demeo only on Virtual Desktop. Air link would crash on launch and never load up. I also checked and did not see any option for mixed reality in the steam version.

Really a shame. I bought the game on Steam and there's no MR for Quest 3. It's 2023, it shouldn't be that certain features are hard locked to a platform.

If you buy the game you should be able to enjoy it on any of your devices.

I was just about to get the game on Steam to play it in MR on my Quest 3 when I saw this.
So that's bad news and I won't be buying the game until they fix this

I got it as part of the humble bundle when I first got my Quest 3, and haven't seen an MR mode.

This, they need to bring it over to the Steam/PCVR version. I don't believe they're restricted by Meta to do so because Virtual Desktop itself has the passthrough/MR functionality.

I don't feel it's Steam's fault. SteamVR lets you set Oculus as your OpenXR runtime. The SteamVR API and Oculus API communicate through OpenXR. I'm not sure how it works for Unity (Demeo runs on Unity) but in Unreal Engine, camera/passthrough functionality is supported. My impression is that SteamVR will output whatever it receives from OpenXR to your headset (which OpenXR receives from the game engine). Simple diagram visualizing it: https://www.khronos.org/assets/uploads/apis/OpenXR-After_6.png

The developers just need to push a build for their Steam-version package that includes the functionality. It could be the case that they didn't develop Demeo with OpenXR in mind and separately packaged the Oculus and SteamVR versions without OpenXR. It's not impossible to add OpenXR support after the fact.
